A Metric Information Network (MIN) with a plurality of Ground Control Points (GCPs) that are selected in an automated fashion. The GCP selection includes clustering algorithms as compared to prior art pair-wise matching algorithms. Further, the image processing that takes place in identifying interest points, clustering, and selecting tie points to be GCPs is all performed before the MIN is updated. By arranging for the processing to happen in this manner, the processing that is embarrassingly parallel (identifying interest points, clustering, and selecting tie points) can be performed in a distributed fashion across many computers and then the MIN can be updated.

Automatic generation of a mosaic comprising a plurality of geospatial images. An embodiment of the automatic mosaic generation may include automated source image selection that includes comparison of source images to base layer image to determine radiometric similar source images. Additionally, an embodiment of an automatic cutline generator may be provided to automatically determine a cutline when merging two images such that radiometric differences between the images along the cutline are reduced. In this regard, less perceivable outlines may be provided. Further still, an embodiment of a radiometric normalization module may be provided that may determine radiometric adjustments to source images to match certain properties of the base layer image. In some embodiments, when processing source images, the source images may be downsampled during a portion of the processing to reduce computational overhead. Additionally, some highly parallel computations may be performed by a GPU to further enhance performance.

A method and system for printing simple data utilizing a raster image processor in a computer system is disclosed. The raster image processor is configured for use with a complex data stream corresponding to at least one complex page description language. The method and system include embedding at least one control structure in the complex data stream. The control structure(s) are for informing the raster image processor of the simple data. The method and system also include converting the simple data into a printable format based on the at least one control structure and without using the complex page description language to convert a portion of the complex data stream corresponding to the simple data into the printable format. The method and system also include converting a remaining portion of the complex data stream into the printable format using the complex page description language.

Reassigning also includes reassigning the at least one task when the at least one alternate machine can perform the at least one task in addition to previously assigned work while finishing in less time than the time of the makespan reduced by time required for the task being reassigned.

A printer output coverage estimation system permits a user of print services to obtain an accurate estimate of the amount of toner required by a print job. Providers of print services, including coverage estimations, may be identified through the Internet and selected by the user from a web interface. The estimate request may then be transmitted directly to the provider that fulfills the request using excess computing capacity. Alternatively, providers may register excess computing capacity with a broker. The broker matches job requests with a grid of providers and directs the job request to the matched provider(s). Thus, users of print services have an alternative to purchasing in-house computing resources that may remain idle much of the time.

The model utilizes stochastic estimates of the probability of RIP execution time to select a preferred processor of the controller and dispatches the sheetside to the preferred compute node identified as providing best probability of meeting required deadlines for RIP completion time of a raw sheetside.
