The present invention relates to a sterile form, filled and sealed flexible solution container and an attached port assembly that allows for the sterile dispensing of the solution. In particular, the present invention relates to a sterile formed, filled and sealed flexible solution container and a sterile administration port assembly which is attached without interrupting the complete sealing of the hermetically sealed fluid container and which allows for the sterile packaging, storage and delivery of a sterile medical solution without heat degradation or oxygen permeation.

A sterilization system for sterilizing a solution such as a parenteral solution or diluent generally includes an arrangement for supplying a solution to be sterilized from an associated source, at least one first heat-exchanger for elevating the temperature of the solution, and at least one second heat-exchanger for subsequently cooling the solution. The system further includes an arrangement for pressurizing the system with sterile gas which is used to effect 'dry-start up' of the system and to shut-down the system to minimize product losses.

Method for forming, filling and sealing a sterile flexible container

A closure containing an internalized microbial filter for use in enteral delivery set assemblies. The closure comprises a generally cylindrical side wall, a planar top surface having first and second projections, the first projection being associated with the spikable membrane while the second projection is associated with a filter and with means to limit air access to the filter. The closure also includes a bottom surface having an aperture which extends through the closure to the top surface thereof with the filter being secured to the bottom surface and extending across the opening of the aperture.

A reservoir/dispensing container for use at a patient's bedside for administering nutrients, medicaments, etc. through enteral, I.V. or like systems wherein the container, which is semi-rigid and has nestable stacking means provided thereon, has discharge port means at one end thereof and a fill opening located in a beveled corner wall surface adjacent the end opposite from the discharge port means whereby the container can be filled either while supported in an upright use position, as at a patient's bedside, or while supported on its side with the fill opening facing generally upwardly, as for instance, at a nursing station or in a hospital pharmacy. An adaptor having a reduced-thickness intermediate section is provided for connecting a feeding tube or the like to the discharge port means of the container in a manner preventing kinking of the feeding tube or the like.
