Methods and apparatus for a desiccant saturation monitoring system having a body with a first portion configured to hold a desiccant material and a second portion configured to position a sensor in relation to the desiccant material. A light source can irradiate the desiccant material and the sensor can detect irradiance from the desiccant material for at least one wavelength to determine saturation information for the desiccant material.

Neutron detectors for measuring a neutron yield of a neutron generator may include at least one particle counter disposed in a housing and at least one removable cartridge for receiving at least one collection medium. The at least one removable cartridge configured to be at least partially inserted into the housing to position the collection medium proximate the at least one particle counter. Detector assemblies for evaluating an output of a particle generator may include a housing and a plurality of cartridges that may be selectively received in the housing. Methods of detecting an output of a neutron source include inserting a collection medium into a cartridge, positioning the collection medium proximate a neutron source, and inserting the cartridge with the collection medium into a housing of a neutron yield detector.

Detectors for use with particle generators and related assemblies, systems and methods

Methods and apparatus to capture images of fluorescence generated by ionizing radiation and determine a position of a beam of ionizing radiation generating the fluorescence from the captured images. In one embodiment, the fluorescence is the result of ionization and recombination of nitrogen in air.

Method and apparatus to monitor a beam of ionizing radiation

According to one embodiment, a system for interrogating hidden contents of a container comprises a controller, a detector system, and a data system. The controller receives a selection of a source mode of source radiation to generate to interrogate contents of a container. The source mode selection comprises a neutron mode, a gamma ray mode, or a combined neutron-gamma ray mode. The controller instructs a cyclotron to generate the source radiation according to the source mode selection. The detector system detects radiation emitted from the contents in response to the source radiation. The data system analyzes the emitted radiation and describes the contents according to the analysis.

Interrogating hidden contents of a container

A method of measuring a parameter of a landfill including a cap, without passing wires through the cap, includes burying a sensor apparatus in the landfill prior to closing the landfill with the cap; providing a reader capable of communicating with the sensor apparatus via radio frequency (RF); placing an antenna above the barrier, spaced apart from the sensor apparatus; coupling the antenna to the reader either before or after placing the antenna above the barrier; providing power to the sensor apparatus, via the antenna, by generating a field using the reader; accumulating and storing power in the sensor apparatus; sensing a parameter of the landfill using the sensor apparatus while using power; and transmitting the sensed parameter to the reader via a wireless response signal. A system for measuring a parameter of a landfill is also provided.

Systems and methods for measuring a parameter of a landfill including a barrier cap and wireless sensor systems and methods

A wireless sensor system includes a passive sensor apparatus configured to be embedded within a concrete structure to monitor infiltration of contaminants into the structure. The sensor apparatus includes charging circuitry and a plurality of sensors respectively configured to measure environmental parameters of the structure which include information related to the infiltration of contaminants into the structure. A reader apparatus is communicatively coupled to the sensor apparatus, the reader apparatus being configured to provide power to the charging circuitry during measurements of the environmental parameters by the sensors. The reader apparatus is configured to independently interrogate individual ones of the sensors to obtain information measured by the individual sensors. The reader apparatus is configured to generate an induction field to energize the sensor apparatus. Information measured by the sensor apparatus is transmitted to the reader apparatus via a response signal that is superimposed on a return induction field generated by the sensor apparatus. Methods of monitoring structural integrity of the structure are also provided.
