A terminal assembly includes a terminal having a wire barrel configured to be crimped to a wire and a mating segment configured to be mated to a mating component. The terminal assembly includes a wire retention seal received in the wire barrel. The wire retention seal has a terminal mounting flange engaging the wire barrel to axially secure the wire retention seal to the terminal. The wire retention seal has a wire retention sleeve defining a wire bore configured to receive an end of the wire. The wire retention sleeve is configured to interfere with the wire to axially retain the wire retention seal on the end of the wire prior to crimping the wire barrel to the wire.

A shuttle assembly is configured to connect an insulated wire to a contact terminal. The shuttle assembly may include a connecting insert defining an exposed wire-crimping chamber. The connecting insert is configured to receive an exposed end of a conductive wire, and is configured to be crimped to the exposed end of the conductive wire. A seal member is connected to the connecting insert, and is configured to be crimped to an insulating cover of the insulated wire.

Systems and methods for forming a conductive wire assembly

An electrical connector is provided for terminating a plurality of electrical conductors. The electrical connector includes a terminal subassembly having terminals configured to be electrically connected to the electrical conductors. The terminal subassembly has an insulator holding the terminals. The terminal subassembly has a mating interface where mating surfaces of the terminals mate with a mating connector. The mating interface of the terminal subassembly is approximately flat. The electrical connector also includes a metal shell holding the terminal subassembly. The metal shell has the cross-sectional shape of an oval.

A connector for an e-textile that has conductors that define a conductive layer of the e-textile includes a terminal subassembly that has terminals configured to be electrically connected to corresponding conductors of the e-textile. The terminal subassembly has an insulator holding the terminals. The terminals have mating interfaces. A shell holds the terminal subassembly. The shell has a front and a rear. The rear is configured to receive the e-textile. The shell has a bottom and a top. The top is open sided to provide access to the mating interfaces of the terminals for mating with a mating connector.
