A system and method for generating input signals for an electronic engine control module includes a first waveform generator that is configured to generate a simulated first speed signal that is representative of a first speed and a vibration modulating signal that is representative of the first speed, a second waveform generator that is synchronized with the first waveform generator is configured to receive the vibration modulating signal and to generate a simulated second speed signal that is representative of a second speed and a simulated composite vibration voltage signal, and a voltage-to-charge converter that is configured to receive the simulated composite vibration voltage signal from the second waveform generator and to generate a simulated composite vibration charge signal that simulates a speed/vibration composite signal from an accelerometer.

A temperature sensing system includes a temperature sensing element. The temperature sensing element is bondable to an exterior surface of an electronic component and configured to sense a temperature at an interior of the electronic component. The system further includes a flexible cable operatively connected to the temperature sensing element, and a signal conditioning unit operatively connected to a distal end of the flexible cable. The signal conditioning unit is mountable to a printed circuit board proximate to the electronic component. The signal conditioning unit is configured to receive a signal from the temperature sensing element, and output a signal indicative of the temperature at the interior of the electronic component.

A differential signal conditioner circuit with common mode voltage (CMV) compensation is provided. The circuit includes a signal multiplexer that receives a input signal that includes a high and low signal and a reference CMV signal, a differential amplifier coupled to the signal multiplexer that receives the reference CMV signal and outputs a CMV error value during a first cycle, and receives the input signal and outputs an amplified difference signal during a second cycle. The circuit also includes a CMV measurement circuit that receives the reference CMV signal and outputs a confirmation value during the first cycle, and receives the input signal and outputs a CMV compensation value during the second cycle, and a processing element that receives the CMV error value, the amplified difference signal, the CMV compensation value, and a differential amplifier gain value and generates a CMV compensated output based on the received signals and values.

A system for testing over-current fault detection includes a first switch to connect a voltage to a load and a capacitor; a first monitor circuit that monitors a current from the first switch to the load; a second monitor circuit that monitors a voltage across the capacitor; and a microcontroller configured to control a state of the first switch to connect voltage to the load and verifies over-current detection based upon current generated during charging of the capacitor. The microcontroller detects an over-current fault condition based upon input from the first monitor circuit and detects a short-circuit fault condition based upon input from the second monitor circuit during test of the first monitor circuit.

Self-test of over-current fault detection

A system for testing over-current fault detection includes a first switch to connect a voltage to a load, a capacitor connected between the first switch and ground, a monitor circuit that monitors a current from the first switch to the load, and a microcontroller configured to detect an over-current fault condition based upon input from the monitor circuit. The microcontroller controls the state of the first switch to connect voltage to the load and verifies over-current detection based upon current generated during charging of the capacitor.

A system for resonance based cable compensation includes a first switch with a first terminal for connecting a first connection of a cable having a resonant circuit on an end of the cable opposite the first switch. The system also includes a second terminal for connecting a second connection of a cable that has its first connection connected to the first terminal. A logic component is operatively connected to control the first switch to selectively apply voltage pulses across the first and second terminals to generate a resonance signal in a cable connected to the terminals in order to compensate for equivalent cable capacitance.

A signal convertor includes a first sensor configured to generate a first signal and a second signal and first and second multiplexers configured receive the first and second signals, respectively, and generate samples. The signal convertor also includes an analog-to-digital (A/D) convertor configured to convert the samples and a processor configured to multiply the samples by a sine vector and by a cosine vector and determine a magnitude of the first and second signals based upon the product of the samples and the sine vector and the product of the samples and the cosine vector. A method for converting a signal is also disclosed.

An electronic circuit for processing signals from a strain gauge pressure sensor includes an anti-alias filter, an analog-to-digital conversion circuit, and a detection circuit for detecting when the sensor is unexpectedly disconnected from the signal processing circuit. The detection circuit provides a yes/no indication of the connection of the pressure sensor to the circuit based upon whether a common mode voltage associated with one of the signal terminals of the pressure sensor is out of range.

A sensor system includes a first sensor and a second sensor and a multiplexor having at least two multiplexer inputs connected to the sensors. The output of the multiplexor is connected to a time correlation logic circuit via at least a signal conditioning and anti-aliasing filter, and the output of the time correlation logic is a time correlated sensor reading of the first and second sensor.

Method and apparatus for multiplexed time aligned analog input sampling

A system comprises a vibration sensor for generating a vibration signal on a turbomachine, a signal conditioner for conditioning the vibration signal, and a test signal generator for calibrating the signal conditioner. The test signal generator calibrates the signal conditioner with a test signal having a base frequency and a modulation frequency. The signal conditioner introduces a phase error into the vibration signal, and the signal conditioner introduces a phase shift into the test signal. A processor compensates for the phase error in the vibration signal by correcting the vibration signal based on the phase shift in the test signal, where the processor determines the phase shift in the test signal based on harmonic analysis of the modulation frequency.

A system for determining a relative position of a secondary gear includes a gear assembly including a phonic wheel fixed to a primary gear and a secondary gear rotatably engaged to the first gear, a sensor configured to output a signal upon detecting a tooth of the phonic wheel, and a digital logic circuit configured to detect a revolution of the phonic wheel, to generate a primary gear tooth pulse at intervals corresponding to intervals of teeth of the primary gear based on the detected revolution of the phonic wheel, and to generate a secondary gear revolution signal at an interval corresponding to a revolution of the secondary gear based on the primary gear tooth pulse.

Detecting a relative shaft position on geared shafts

A electrical circuit includes an excitation voltage connected via a first circuit path to an output, a switching device having a control terminal and first and second controlled terminals connected to the first circuit path, and a controller that generates a control signal provided to the control terminal of the switching device to selectively supply the excitation voltage to the output. Faults in the electrical circuit are detected by monitoring the switching device voltage at one of the controlled terminals of the switching device.

Frequency based fault detection

A resolver interface includes separate anti-aliasing filters for sine and cosine signals. The separately filtered signals are then time share multiplexed to a single analog to digital (A/D) converter. Because all of the inputs are fed through the same A/D converter, any error, difference or shift caused by the A/D converter is shared across al of the inputs. A Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and processor are used to digitally filter, demodulate and compute position.
