A method for platelet preservation comprising placing a composition comprising platelets in a gas mixture comprising xenon and oxygen under pressure of about 0-10 Bars at a first temperature of about 18&#xb0; C.-37&#xb0; C. for a first period of time, and then subsequently cooling the composition to a second temperature of about 0,1&#xb0; C.-6&#xb0; C., and holding the composition under the pressure and in the second temperature for a second period of time.

Method for living tissue preservation

Provided is a method for reducing apoptosis in nucleated cells. The method entails holding nucleated cells in a container and adding a gas containing xenon to the container so that the pressure inside the container reaches between 0.5 to 4.0 Atm above ambient pressure; holding the container at between 0.5 to 4.0 Atm above ambient pressure for a period of time during which the temperature in the container is between 22&#xb0; C. and 37&#xb0; C.; lowering the temperature in the container to between 0.1&#xb0; C. and 10&#xb0; C. while maintaining the pressure of 0.5 to 4.0 Atm above ambient pressure and holding the container for a period of time; and reducing the pressure in the container to ambient pressure and increasing the temperature to 22&#xb0; C.-37&#xb0; C. By performing these steps, the cells undergo less apoptosis than a reference.

Method for preserving cells and cell cultures

Provided are methods for preparing edible aquatic animals for storage by placing a living aquatic animal into a medium containing trehalose, allowing the live animal to remain in the trehalose solution for a period of time, and removing and processing the animal for storage and/or use for human consumption. The medium may contain a sugar alcohol, such as maltitol. Also, the living aquatic animal may be placed in a medium containing an acid, such as citric acid.

Method of preserving a platelet concentrate under elevated xenon concentration and pressure with refrigeration

A crankcase fuel injection system includes a diaphragm type fuel pump, a crankcase fuel injector assembly, and a main air inlet assembly. Engine crankcase pulses generated by the up and down movements of the piston are utilized by the fuel pump to replenish the fuel mixture in a fuel mixture injector chamber of the fuel injector assembly. The air mass entering the crankcase upon the upstroke of the piston is controlled within the main air inlet assembly by a throttle valve and metered across a main air venturi. The venturi signal at the main air venturi is amplified by a booster venturi. The amplified venturi signal is applied to a middle chamber formed between the two diaphragms of the compound diaphragm assembly which serves as the injector pump mechanism. The force acting upon the diaphragm assembly due to the amplified venturi signal is further amplified due to the area relationships of the two diaphragms. The resulting amplified force creates an inward movement of the compound diaphragm assembly which injects a fuel charge from the fuel chamber under pressure into the crankcase across a check valve and a fuel injector orifice. The air-fuel ratio is trimmed using an aneroid chamber or a trim adjustment screw to control the addition of bleed air into the amplified venturi signal.

This invention has an inlet for either gaseous or liquified gases (LP gas requiring a vaporizer within the system) with the proper passages from the inlet to a back seated fuel valve which is opened by a pressure differential (vacuum from the idle system) across a diaphragm engaging a lever which moves a sealed actuating pin inward to open the fuel valve allowing gaseous fuels to move to the outlet through a proper confining passage. Placed between the outlet and the vacuum chamber of the fuel valve diaphragm is a chamber divided by a free floating diaphragm providing two chambers, one chamber is either balanced for air cleaner resistance or vented to the atmosphere, the other chamber having a free passage to the outlet and a passage in the center of the chamber, having communication with the vacuum side of the fuel valve diaphragm, which is throttled by the floating diaphragm diluting the idle vacuum signal to position the fuel valve.
