A plurality of guides facilitate linear translation of the carriage on the vertical structure without marring. At least one hook on the carriage pivots to engage a slot on the support structure for locking the carriage in a raised position. Objects are attached to a flange on the carriage. A system for raising and lowering a wide range of objects on an elongated tubular structure includes a carriage subsystem with a tubular body having an interior central channel an inner diameter greater than the outer diameter of the elongated tubular structure. Rollers facilitate linear translation of the tubular body along the elongated tubular structure. At least one hook is pivotally mounted on the tubular body and configured to controllably engage a means for locking the carriage in a raised position. The carriage subsystem also includes a flange for attaching an object to the carriage subsystem. A winch and cable control motion of the carriage system between a lowered position adjacent to the base and a raised position adjacent to the top of the tubular structure. A collar attached to the top of the tubular structure includes a tubular body with an outer diameter less than the inner diameter of the tubular body of the carriage subsystem. At least one slot is formed in the tubular body of the collar and configured for controllable engagement by the hook pivotally mounted on the tubular body in the interior central channel of the carriage subsystem. At least one pulley is rotatably mounted to the tubular body of the collar and configured for guiding a lanyard attached to the carriage subsystem at one end of the lanyard. An irrigation subsystem may be provided to irrigate supported planters. An electrical subsystem comprising aligned electrode assemblies may also be provided to supply electric power to an electrical load supported by the carriage when the carriage is locked in the raised position.

Variably controlled adjustable height carriages for raising, lowering, holding, locking and releasing objects on elevated structures

Planter systems allow for the raising, lowering, holding, locking and releasing of a planter on a vertical support structure. The planter assembly may include a carriage, to which one or more planters is attached. Guides such as cables, rollers, sliders, bristles, gaskets, carpet and registration pins maintain space between the vertical support and planter assembly and facilitate raising and lowering. A tether guided over a pulley may be retracted or extended by winding it around or unwinding it from a winch, cleat or windlass to causes the planter assembly to rise or descend. When raised to a locking height, the planter assembly causes a mechanical locking mechanism associated with the planter assembly to move into a locking position, securing the planter assembly to the vertical support. Further raising releases the locking mechanism. Attachable items such as banners, flags, hangers and the like may be coupled to the carriage. Optional irrigation supplies water to the planter assembly and/or surrounding terrain. The planter may be unitary or a plurality of assembled planter components or sections. Drain and cleanout ports facilitate draining and cleaning of the planter assembly. An optional waterfall embodiment includes a reservoir section with overflow ports to drain water into a lower reservoir at the base of the vertical support, from which a pump supplies the water back to the reservoir section of the planter assembly. A plurality of conduits for electrical, data and plumbing extend through the vertical support.

Planter systems include planters releasably integrated with a support structure primarily by releasable and penetrable engagement that is sufficient to support the planter without requiring conventional attachment devices. Engaging portions of the planters are releasably and penetrably received and concealed by the support structure to provide an integrated appearance. The planter systems optionally include adjustable irrigation systems configured to controllably supply water to the planter and/or surrounding terrain.

A planter system includes an adjustable height and angular orientation planter and an optionally adjustable irrigation system for controllably supplying water to the planter and/or surrounding terrain. The planter is configured to controllably travel up and down a vertical support, such as a section of a planter pole or other suitable vertical support structure, from a highest to a lowest position using a pulley and winch, block and tackle, rotating shaft, continuous pulley driven belt, continuous sprocket driven chain, lead screw, ball screw, a ballast, hydraulics, pneumatics, spring or other lifting subsystem. The irrigation system may be configured to supply water to the planter and or to the surrounding terrain. The planter is carried along the pole, allowing it to be controllably rotated at any height along the travel.

An adjustable bracket assembly for mounting an electronic display device to a shelf, such as, for example, a shelf of a retail store. The adjustable bracket assembly allows for the mounting of an electronic display device to shelving of different width and does not require any alteration of the shelving. The electronic display device may be mounted at different locations with respect to the shelf. The design of the adjustable bracket assembly preferably allows for useable shelf space to exist behind the electronic display device once it is installed to the shelf. The adjustable bracket assembly may also allow for attachment of a printer, or a printer housing.

The present invention is a fanless computer with an integrated display. Passive cooling design features, including a heat sink, are incorporated into the device so that it is fanless. The heat sink supports the entire computer enclosure and causes heat in the device to dissipate through vents. The PCB assembly may be attached directly to the heat sink to facilitate thermal transfer characteristics so that components are cooled without the need for a fan. A pressure plate may be attached to the back of the PCB provides a tight coupling between the processor and heat sink. The computer is fanless, silent, and compact and therefore, suitable for many applications, including for use in locations where the availability of space is a concern. For example, the computer may be mounted on a retail store shelf to provide product information to consumers shopping at the retail establishment.

The present invention includes a table-driven system for guiding a user through the design of an electronic component. The modular program contains system logic to utilize this data in guiding the user through the process.
