A travel case for a bar of soap is provided. In various embodiments, the travel case permits accelerated drying of the bar of soap and prolongs the life of the soap. The travel case is designed to maintain the bar of soap in a fixed horizontal and vertical position during transport. The travel case includes a lid and a base with a walled receiving portion. The receiving portion is configured to receive a bar of soap that is attached to a soap support and hold the soap support such that the bar of soap is prevented from contacting the surface of the soap case. A method of reversibly securing a bar of soap within a soap case while maintaining the soap in a fixed horizontal and vertical position is also provided herein.

Soap travel case

A stand for a bar of soap is provided. The stand is designed to be selectively attached to an off-the-shelf bar of soap, and to then support the bar of soap over a support surface such as a counter top or a soap dish. The stand defines a base having an upper surface and an opposing lower surface. The stand also includes a plurality of through-openings formed through the base. The stand additionally includes a plurality of spikes that are placed along the upper surface of the base. The spikes are dimensioned to extend into the bar of soap when the base is compressed against a substantially flat surface of the bar of soap, and to hold the plate adjacent to the bar of soap. Finally, that stand has one or more tabs residing along the lower surface of the base. The tabs are dimensioned to support the base and a connected bar of soap above a support surface. A method of supporting a bar of soap above a support surface is also provided herein.

Soap stand

A pedestrian crossing signal which incorporates a face plate having a 'WALK' symbol and a 'DONT WALK' symbol. The 'WALK' symbol is illuminated by a mercury vapor tubular lamp mounted on the planar rear wall of a housing and which emits white light, and the 'DONT WALK' symbol is illuminated by a neon tubular lamp also mounted on the planar rear wall of the housing and which emits red or orange light. At least a portion of the rear wall of the housing on which the tubular lamps are mounted is formed of heat conductive material. This material serves to conduct heat from the neon lamp to the mercury vapor lamp when the former is illuminated to obviate any likelihood of failure of the mercury vapor lamp to become illuminated when it is energized even in cold weather.

Neon pedestrian crossing signal

A neon-type pedestrian traffic signal which includes a housing. A partition divides the housing into two separate compartments, each compartment having a parabolic-shaped rear wall covered with a suitable reflective substance. A tubular-type neon lamp is mounted in each compartment as the focal point of the corresponding parabolic-shaped rear wall. Each neon lamp extends outwardly from the rear wall. The housing has an open front, and a face plate fits over the open front. The face plate has the appropriate 'WALK' and 'DONT WALK' symbols positioned over the respective compartments. An egg crate visor is mounted over the face plate to shield the pedestrian traffic signal from sunlight. Due to the configuration of the rear reflective wall of each compartment, the tendency for symbols on the face plate to be visible when not illuminated is minimized.

Pedestrian traffic signal

A visor assembly for a pedestrian traffic signal, which is intended to be mounted across the face of the signal and which serves to screen the signal from sunlight. The visor assembly of the invention includes a frame, and a grating mounted in the frame. The grating is formed of a plurality of zig-zag strips and straight strips interposed between one another, and adhesively attached to one another, so as to provide a solid grating which is locked into the frame, and which cannot be pried out of the frame by vandals.

Visor assembly for pedestrian traffic signal

A visor assembly for a pedestrian traffic signal, which is intended to be mounted across the face of the signal and which serves to screen the signal from sunlight. The visor assembly includes a frame, and an 'egg-crate' grating mounted in the frame, the grating being composed of a multiplicity of intersecting webs which provide a plurality of rectangular openings. The invention, the grating is locked in the frame to prevent vandalism by plastic strips which receive the ends of the webs, and which are secured to the frame.

A rotatable lamp socket for an incandescent pedestrian traffic signal, or other illuminating or signalling device, is provided, in which the socket is mounted on a vertical surface and an incandescent lamp is held by the socket in a horizontal position. In the embodiment to be described, two such rotatable sockets are mounted on a vertical heat conducting plate in a case, the plate serving as a mounting means for the sockets and also as a heat sink. A reflective housing is also mounted in the case, and a partition divides the housing into two separate compartments, each with a parabolic-shaped rear wall covered with a suitably reflective substance. Two incandescent lamps are mounted horizontally in the sockets to be located in the respective compartments at the focal point of the corresponding parabolic-shaped rear wall. The case has an open front, and a three-line face place is provided which fits over the open front and which has the words 'DONT WALK' formed thereon in position over one of the compartments, and the word 'WALK' inscribed thereon in position over the other compartment. A detent assembly is provided at the base of each socket, so that each lamp may be rotated about a horizontal axis from one angular position to another until it has an angular position at which its filament hangs down from the supporting wires to provide long operating life for the lamps.

A visor assembly for a pedestrian traffic signal which is intended to be mounted across the face of the signal and which serves to screen the signal from sunlight. The visor assembly includes a frame, and an 'egg-crate' grating mounted in the frame, the grating being composed of a multiplicity of intersecting webs which provide a plurality of rectangular openings. In accordance with the invention, the grating is locked in the frame by brackets which are slotted to receive the webs, and which are adhesively bonded to one of the webs and to the frame to protect the assembly from vandalism.

A combined elongated terminal box and a mounting bracket is provided for pedestrian and traffic signal units for mounting traffic signals, and either one or two pedestrian signal units on an upright pole. The bracket is mounted to the pole to extend radially outwardly from the pole on one side of the longitudinal axis thereof when a signal unit is to be mounted on the pole, and to extend on both sides of the longitudinal axis of the pole when two pedestrian signal units are to be mounted on the pole. The bracket has a tubular protuberance at the distal end thereof which extends perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the bracket and into a mounting hole in the top edge of the signal unit to be supported by the bracket. The energizing electric wires for the unit are brought up through the interior of the pole and through a bushing into the interior of the bracket to a terminal strip which is mounted in a housing formed by the bracket. The terminal strip, in turn, is connected to electric wires extending through the tubular protuberance and into the signal unit to energize the illuminating elements therein. A similar bracket may be provided to be attached to the bottom edge of the pedestrian signal unit.

Mounting bracket assembly for traffic signals and pedestrian signal units

A two-piece bracket assembly is provided for a pedestrian traffic signal unit for mounting the unit on an upright pole. The bracket consists of a first piece which is bolted or strapped to the pole, and a second piece which is mounted on the side of the signal unit. The two pieces are removably hinged together by appropriate hinges, and are shaped to form an enclosure when turned about the axis of rotation of the hinges to a closed facing position. The energizing wires for the signal unit are brought up through the interior of the pole and through an opening in the first piece of the bracket to be connected to a terminal strip in the second piece of the bracket. The terminal strip is connected to wires extending into the signal unit itself, the wires being connected to the electrically energized illuminating elements within the unit. The two hinged pieces of the bracket are held in their closed position by locking bolts emanating from inside the pedestrian signal, or by other appropriate fastener means, such as straps.

Mounting bracket assembly for pedestrian traffic signal

An adapter unit is provided which may be easily and quickly fitted into existing pedestrian traffic control signals to adapt such signals to an assembly in which luminous gaseous tube signal elements are mounted in an enclosed capsule, or module, which, in turn, is supported within the original housing of the signal. The adapter unit of the invention comprises a signal illuminating capsule which has a tray-like configuration, and which is mounted in the cover of the traffic control signal by means of a pair of cross bars which are releasably clipped into brackets fixed to the upper and lower rear edges of the cover.
