A process for preparing a spray-dried detergent powder having: (i) detersive surfactant; and (ii) other detergent ingredients; wherein the process includes the steps of: (a) forming an aqueous detergent slurry in a mixer; (b) transferring the aqueous detergent slurry from the mixer to a pipe leading through a first pump and then through a second pump to a spray nozzle; (c) contacting a detergent ingredient to the aqueous detergent slurry in the pipe after the first pump and before the second pump to form a mixture; (d) spraying the mixture through the spray nozzle into a spray-drying tower; and (e) spray-drying the mixture to form a spray-dried powder, wherein the pressure drop between (i) the pressure in the pipe at the outlet of the first pump to (ii) the pressure in the pipe at the inlet to the second pump is less than 8&#xd7;10Pa.

Spray-drying process

A process for preparing a spray-dried detergent powder having: (i) detersive surfactant; and (ii) other detergent ingredients; wherein the process has the steps of: (a) dosing an aqueous detergent slurry into a drop tank; (b) transferring the aqueous detergent slurry from the drop tank to a pipe, and transferring the aqueous detergent slurry along the pipe through at least one pump to a spray nozzle; (c) contacting a detergent ingredient to the aqueous detergent slurry in the pipe to form a mixture; (d) spraying the mixture through the spray nozzle into a spray-drying tower; and (e) spray-drying the mixture to form a spray-dried powder, wherein the ratio of (i) the volume of the pipe of step (b) in liters to (ii) the volume of the drop tank of step (a) in liters is less than 1:1.

A process for the machine-washing of fabrics according to which a dispensing and diffusing device of the reusable type is filled with a particulate product which is active during the washing. This device is placed in the machine together with the fabrics to be washed, and washing is subsequently carried out in the customary way. The device used comprises a flexible bag mounted on a ring made of plastic with helical radial walls providing apertures through the mouth delimited by the ring. A assembly in the form of a cage can be arranged inside the sleeve of the bag in order to maintain the form of the latter during the washing. The product dissolves progressively and little escapes from the device in solid form.
