A fluid injector for an exhaust treatment system is disclosed. The fluid injector may have a body, a pin member, and a heater. The pin member may be disposed within the body and have a fluid receiving end and a fluid injecting end. The heater may be disposed about the fluid injecting end of the pin member.

In one aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a system for reacting with sulfuric acid. The system may include a housing having an inlet and an outlet and may also include a component disposed downstream of the inlet and upstream of the outlet. The component may be configured to restrict a flow of fluid through the housing as a function of sulfuric acid present within the fluid.

A ventilation system for use with an internal combustion engine having a crankcase is disclosed. The ventilation system may have a breather housing connected to ventilate gases from the crankcase, and a filtration canister fluidly connected downstream of the breather housing. The filtration canister may have a filter housing, a filtering medium located within the filter housing to collect oil from the gases, and an oil collection container disposed within the filter housing and being configured to receive at least a portion of the filtering medium. The oil collection container may have a drain port in fluid communication with the crankcase. The filtration canister may also have at least one port configured to discharge the gases from the housing after the gases have passed through the filtering medium.

Crankcase ventilation system

A filtration system is disclosed. The filtration system includes a valve lid defining a chamber. The chamber is configured to extend substantially in a second direction. The filtration system also includes a filter element associated with a lower portion of the chamber. The filtration system further includes a passageway in flow communication with the lower portion of the chamber. The passageway is configured to provide flow communication for a mixture of oil vapor and crankcase fumes flowing into the chamber substantially in a first direction and substantially upward direction. The first direction is generally orthogonal to the second direction. The chamber is configured such that the flow of the mixture into the chamber results in at least a portion of the oil vapor collecting in the filter element, and at least a portion of the crankcase fumes flowing through the filter element.

Systems and methods for filtering crankcase fumes

A fluid injector for use in an exhaust treatment system is disclosed. The fluid injector may have a nozzle portion, a heater associated with the nozzle portion, and a controller in communication with the heater. The controller may be configured to recognize a condition triggering a purge event of the fluid injector. The controller may also be configured to activate the heater to purge the fluid injector in response to the recognized condition.

An exhaust treatment system for a power source has an air induction system, an exhaust system and a recirculation system. The exhaust system includes a particulate filter. The recirculation system is configured to draw exhaust from downstream of the particulate filter and direct the exhaust to the air induction system. A condensation dispersion device for use with a power source having an exhaust recirculation system is disclosed. The condensation dispersion device may have a housing with an inlet configured to receive exhaust, and an outlet configured to discharge exhaust. The condensation dispersion device may also have a first static mixing device disposed within the housing and being configured to redirect condensate from an internal wall of the housing into the exhaust.

A power train control system for a mobile machine is disclosed. The power train control system has a power source configured to produce a power output, a transmission device operatively connected to receive the power output and propel the mobile machine, and a control module. The control module is configured to receive an indication of a power demand, receive an indication of a current travel speed of the mobile machine, and reference the power demand and the current travel speed with a power train efficiency map to determine a desired power source speed. The power train control system is also configured to control operation of the transmission device to bring a speed of the power source within a predetermined amount of the desired power source speed.

A method of controlling an engine during an engine startup or shutdown condition includes operating a valve to open a port of a combustion chamber to allow fluid to flow between the combustion chamber and the port for at least one entire engine cycle. The method also includes preventing combustion of fuel during a combustion stroke of the at least one engine cycle. The engine cycle occurs during the engine startup or shutdown condition.

Method and apparatus for controlling engine valve timing

A condensation reduction device for use with an engine is disclosed. The condensation reduction device may have a first body member configured to receive a flow of exhaust, and a reservoir in fluid communication with the first body member to collect condensate from the flow of exhaust. The condensation reduction device may further have a passageway in fluid communication with the reservoir to direct the collected condensate from the reservoir back into the flow of exhaust.

An exhaust system for receiving exhaust gas of an engine is provided. The exhaust system comprises a cooler configured to cool at least a portion of exhaust gas, a pressure sensor configured to measure an exhaust pressure drop across the cooler, and a controller configured to determine exhaust flowrate as a function the measured pressure drop across the cooler. Also provided is a method for operating an engine. The method comprises the steps of combusting a fuel and air mixture, exhausting at least some of the combusted fuel and air mixture as exhaust gas to an exhaust system of an engine, cooling at least some of the combusted exhaust gas in a cooler, measuring pressure drop of the exhaust gas across the cooler, and determining a flowrate of the exhaust gas across the cooler as a function of pressure drop.

Engines and methods of controlling an engine may involve one or more cams associated with engine intake and/or exhaust valves. In some examples, shifting the rotational phase of one or more cams advances and/or delays timing of the opening and/or closing of valves. Timing of valve closing/opening and possible use of an air supply system may enable engine operation according to a Miller cycle.

The engine comprises an engine block defining at least one cylinder; a head connected with the engine block; a piston slidable in each cylinder; a combustion chamber defined by the head, the piston, and the cylinder; an air intake valve movable to open and close the air intake port; an air supply system including two turbochargers in series fluidly connected to the air intake port; a fuel supply system operable to inject fuel into the combustion chamber; an air intake valve assembly comprising a camshaft configured to open the intake valve; and a hydraulically actuated variable intake valve closing mechanism configured to hold the intake valve open.

Engines and methods of controlling an engine may involve one or more fluidically driven actuators associated with engine intake and/or exhaust valves. In some examples, the actuators may be placed in flow communication with high pressure fluid from one source and/or low pressure fluid from another. Timing of valve closing/opening and use of an air supply system may enable engine operation according to a Miller cycle.

In one aspect, the present disclosure is directed to an internal combustion engine having an engine block defining at least one cylinder and a head connected with said engine block. The head has an air intake port and an exhaust port. The internal combustion engine also has a piston and a combustion chamber. The internal combustion engine further has an air intake valve movable to open and close the air intake port and an air supply system having at least one turbocharger fluidly connected to the air intake port. The internal combustion engine additionally has a fuel supply system operable to inject fuel into the combustion chamber, a cam assembly selectively mechanically linked to the air intake valve to move the air intake valve, and an electromagnetic actuator configured to decouple the cam assembly from the air intake valve and control movement of the air intake valve.
