A hydraulic control circuit, comprising a control line connected to a device to be controlled by fluid pressure in the control line; a time-out valve on the control line, the time-out valve having a time-out period during which time-out period operation of the time-out valve is delayed after actuation of the time-out valve; a pump connected to the control line for pressurizing the control line with fluid; and an arming valve operated by pressure on an arming line connected to the control line and the arming valve being connected to the time-out valve to reduce the time-out period in response to pressure on the control line.

Self-contained hydraulic ESD system

A pig injector has a magazine having a plug at one end and connected to a pig injector valve at the other end. The pig injector valve has a rotatable pig receiving chamber with a length L. Plural pigs of length L between rounded ends are positioned end to end within the elongate interior cavity of the magazine. A method of injecting pigs into a pipe at a pig injector valve comprising: (a) storing plural pigs in a magazine connected to the pig injector valve; (b) rotating the ball of the pig injector valve to be in position to receive a pig and close the pipe; (c) moving a pig from the magazine into the pig injector valve; (d) rotating the ball of the pig injector valve to open the pig injector valve and release the pig in the pipe; (e) moving the pig away from the pig injector valve with fluid pressure in the pipe; and subsequently repeating steps (b)-(e) with a second pig. Steps (b)-(e) may be repeated plural times and at regular intervals.

Method of injecting pigs into a pipe

A hydraulic control circuit for a hydraulic actuator, including a high-low pilot valve having a sensing port for connection to a flow line. A single pressure line connects the high-low pilot to a hydraulic actuator. A second line connects the high-low pilot to a reservoir. A normally closed relief valve is connected to the single pressure line for relief of excessive pressure. A normally closed override valve is connected to the single pressure line for manual override of circuit controls. A pump is connected to the single pressure line for pressuring the single pressure line. The hydraulic control circuit has a normally open time out valve on the single pressure line, the time out valve being set to close a pre-set time interval after being manually activated, to isolate the high-low pilot, from the single pressure line to the hydraulic actuator, until the time out period has elapsed. The override valve is connected to the single pressure line between the time out valve and the hydraulic actuator. The relief valve is connected to the single pressure line between the time out valve and the hydraulic actuator. The override valve, relief valve, high-low pilot, and the pump are connected between the first line and the reservoir.

Pipe pig injector

An improved threaded joint for connecting a first tubular member, for example a valve housing, with an outer end having interior threads with pitch W and terminating in a shoulder. A second tubular member has an exterior threaded end and a flanged end. A shoulder extends outwardly of the second tubular member intermediate the threaded and flanged ends. A flange at the flanged end has N equally circumferentially spaced connectors. One of the first shoulder and second shoulder includes a portion that is elastically deformable over a distance at least equal to W/N so that connectors in the flange may be aligned with connectors in a connecting flange of a pipe line. A side entry cap is disposed in the valve assembly. The side entry cap includes a threaded portion and a sealing portion inward of the threaded portion, the threaded portion being cylindrical and the sealing portion having an exterior surface forming a conical section increasing in diameter outward. The valve assembly has a corresponding conical seat portion for receiving the conical section of the side entry cap in sealing relationship. An annular groove is formed in one of the conical section of the sealing portion and the conical seat portion of the valve assembly, the annular groove being defined by walls extending inward from the respective one of the conical section of the sealing portion and the conical seat portion of the valve assembly. An annular sealing element is disposed within the annular groove.

Threaded coupling and pig injector valve

A pressure switch has a housing with an interior bore extending from one end to the other. A rod slidable within the bore and operated by external fluid pressure extends between a piston at one end of the housing and a mechanically operated electrical switch at the other end of the housing. A spring is disposed about the rod between a first stop on the rod and a second stop on the housing. The spring provides resistance against movement of the rod under external pressure. The resistance of the spring to movement is adjusted by a sleeve engaging the spring, with the sleeve threaded into the bore of the housing for movement longitudinally within the housing. A split ring wedged between two other rings resists movement of the rod to longitudinal movement.

Pressure switch with increased deadband

A pressure actuated switch has a diaphragm mounted across a piston having a piston head. Movement of the piston under pressure variations acting on the diaphragm actuates the pressure switch. A support disc is provided for the diaphragm, the support disc being mounted between the diaphragm and the piston. The support disc is preferably made of a high tensile elastic material and has an outer annulus that extends beyond the piston head, an inner disc that is smaller in diameter than the piston head; and a flexible intermediate annulus cantilevered between the outer annulus and the inner disc.

Pressure switch

A pressure switch has a housing with an interior bore extending from one end to the other. A rod slidable within the bore and operated by external fluid pressure extends between a piston at one end of the housing and a mechanically operated electrical switch at the other end of the housing. A spring is disposed about the rod between a first stop on the rod and a second stop on the housing. The spring provides resistance against movement of the rod under external pressure. The resistance of the spring to movement is adjusted by a sleeve engaging the spring, with the sleeve threaded into the bore of the housing for movement longitudinally within the housing. The sleeve includes plural radially extending slots disposed around the sleeve. A port in the housing allows access to the sleeve and a cover is provided for the port. The cover includes a ring disposed around the housing and threaded onto the housing over the port. The electrical switch is mounted on a block that has a central hold down screw passing through the switch mounting block and threaded longitudinally into the housing. A pair of jacking screws flank the central screw, are threaded into the housing and are received by screw receiving counterbores in the switch mounting block. Each of the jacking screws supports the switch mounting block in fixed relationship to the housing, with each of the screws being accessible from the second end of the housing through the screw receiving bores.

A pressure responsive pilot control valve has a spool which is movable by a metal diaphragm sensing the pressure in a flowline. The spool includes two poppet seal rings mounted thereon, the poppet seal rings having concentric axes and which are used for opening and closing fluid ports. The fluid ports are opened and closed for the purpose of sending a signal to a latching relay valve to bleed off a shut in valve actuator which will terminate flow in the flowline. The poppet seal rings of the pilot move responsive to a high or a low pressure condition. A low pressure spring is provided for measuring a low pressure condition and a high pressure spring is provided for measuring a high pressure condition.

Pressure responsive pilot control valve

A latching trip valve for opening and closing a safety device. The trip valve is operable manually and from the pressure of a pilot circuit which monitors the operating conditions of a pipeline. A floating seat is movable under the influence of a longitudinal movable poppet and its included seal means. The floating seat and seal means forms a closed passage until the pressure of the pilot circuit decreases whereas the passage is opened.

Two way latching trip valve

An emergency shut down device for a gate valve utilizes a pre-assembled spring cartridge assembly which includes a container and a compression spring pre-loaded therein. Suitable openings are provided in the end plates of the cartridge to permit the remaining components, including a ram cup, a piston and cylinder arrangement, a base mounting member and a stem for connection to the valve gate, to be assembled within the cartridge without fear of a spring-initiated explosion of parts as the spring is safely contained within the container before final assembly begins. The device is operable to rapidly close a gate valve when there is a loss of fluid pressure within the device.

Emergency shut down device

A sampling device for sampling fluids such as those carried in an oil pipeline comprises two valve means and a sampling chamber located on the fluid passageway in the sampler housing. Fluid is admitted to the probe of the sampling device when the first valve means allows the passageway to be opened and the fluid is admitted or drawn into the sampling chamber. After the first valve means is closed, the second valve means is opened and the fluid exits from the sampling chamber under the action of the plunger. Provision is made to easily clean the buildup of deposits in the fluid passageway without disassembly of the sampling device.
