Tetrasodium pyrophosphate, a methylvinyl ether-maleic anhydride copolymer and/or a silica oral polishing agent may be added for further efficacy. In a single phase blend, the oral care composition may be effectively limited to comprise less than about 10% water. In a dual-phase blend, a mixture having the stannous salt in a first phase and the sodium tripolyphosphate in a second phase may be generated from a dual chamber storage tube (with each phase provided from a separate chamber) immediately prior to dental care usage.

Disclosed are compositions suitable for use with an oral care implement. The compositions provide improved sensory appeal, and comparable reduction in volatile sulfur compounds and antibacterial activity to advanced formula toothpaste formulations. The compositions include a high percentage of antibacterial agent and flavoring, when compared to conventional toothpastes, and some mouth washes formulations, such that only minor amounts of the composition can be delivered to the oral care implement to provide improved reduction in volatile sulfur compounds, antibacterial efficacy, and optionally a cooling sensation.

Gelatin encapsulated oral care composition containing dental occlusion actives, hydrophobic viscosity modifier and oil carrier

A dentifrice composition containing minor amounts of relatively small particle size high cleaning abrasives, without oral care actives. The dentifrice may be encapsulated and optionally, positioned on the head of a toothbrush. Use of the dentifrice provides a small amount of high cleaning abrasive to the teeth, and has stain removal efficacy. In one aspect, a dentifrice composition comprising an orally acceptable carrier and 1 to 10 wt % abrasive, such that the total amount of abrasive delivered per application is 2 mg to 8 mg, the abrasive having a weight mean particle size in the range of 3 to 7 &#x3bc;m, with at least 90% of the particles by weight having a size below 16 &#x3bc;m, and wherein the composition does not contain an oral care active.

High cleaning dentifrice compositions

An oral care composition having a first phase of clinically efficacious 2,4,4'-trichloro 2&#x2032;-hydroxydiphenyl ether admixed in a first orally acceptable aqueous vehicle, and a second phase having a stannous salt (such as stannous fluoride) admixed in a second orally acceptable aqueous vehicle. The second phase has no less than 10 molar percent of soluble stannous ion respective to a mathematical sum of moles of the soluble stannous ion and moles of the stannous salt in the second phase. In one embodiment, the two phases are provided in a dual-tube toothpaste oral care kit.
