A system is described that turns off a high power, power supply when a device no longer needs high power. A low power, power supply or a rechargeable battery provides power to determine when the device again needs high power. The low power supply consumes a minimum possible power when the device does not need high power and the power rechargeable battery is not charged. That is, the high power and low power, power supplies are turned on or off based on the real time power consumption need of the device and the charged state of the battery. The power need of the device is monitored by a current shunt monitoring circuit and a control signal monitoring circuit.

A system and method to provide a message handling system (eg email) user an alert when one or more messages remain in the outbox of the message handling system after the message transmission process has completed more than a user definable number of times or has been in the outbox longer than a user definable amount of time. Once alerted the user will have the option to take one or more actions (independent of the system and method) to remove the message or messages from the outbox.

Alert for messages 'stuck' in a message queue within a messaging application

A system that alerts a sender of an email message as to the addressees of the email when the email is determined to be sensitive, such as when it includes a word such a 'confidential'. The user can allow the message to be sent or go back to a mail create/edit operation where the message or list of addresses can be revised. Trigger words can be stored in a table or database. The system also detects sensitive words in attachments. The sensitive words detected and their locations can be shown in a pop-up message.

Email system for preventing inadvertant transmission of propriety message or documents to unintended recipient

A camera system capturing two parts of a same scene each at a different focus so that objects at different distances from the camera can be captured in focus. The camera system splits the image into two paths using a splitter and focuses the image of each path separately. The focus for each path can be manual or by autofocus. The parts of the images of the two paths can be combined by abutting them at a boundary or in a zone essentially located between the two parts. The image parts in the zone can be combined by blending using a linear function or a non linear function such as a frequency based function.

Camera that combines images of different scene depths

A rechargeable and disposable electronic funds (cash card) issued by a non-financial facility, such as a check cashing facility, a payday loan facility or a short term loan facility, is disclosed where the card substitutes for the cash and is labeled in the name of a bank type financial institution with which the non-financial facility has a relationship. The card can be charged with a variable amount on money. When used at a store for a purchase it can act like a debit card but need not have a name of the holder associated with (or embossed on) it like a gift card, so the user can remain anonymous. The card can be upgraded to a rechargeable or debit/credit card. The card can draw on an account or sub account of the check cashing service or of the bank.

A system that monitors for an initiation of the sending of an electronic message. The user is alerted or warned that the message is about to be sent. The alert includes a list of the addressees of the message. The list includes addressee aliases where available. The sender can then verify that the addressees are correct and change or delete those on the list, or erase the message. The system also provides such an alert when a computer initiates the sending of an unauthorized message and allows the user to delete the unauthorized message.
