Systems and methods for providing network access using network controllers and network interfaces. A network controller has one or more subsystems including a monitoring system that monitors a plurality of communication paths to detect a presence of link pulses in one of the communication paths, a communication providing system that routs the available network signal to a first device, and a communication halting system that prevents the available network signal from being transmitted to one or more other devices. A network interface has a first circuit path routing a first network signal received at a first input of the network interface to a first device. Moreover, the network interface has a second circuit path routing a second network signal received at a second input of the network interface to a first output of the first network interface to be received at a first input of a second network interface.

Systems and methods for providing network access

An apparatus for developing a latent image recorded on a movable imaging surface, including a reservoir for storing a supply of developer material including toner particles; a donor member being arranged to receive toner particles from the reservoir and to deliver toner particles tothe imaging surface at locations spaced apart from each other in the direction of movement of the imaging surface thereby to develop the latent image thereon; and a climate system, associated with the reservoir, for maintaining the supply of developer material at a predefined temperature.

The physical integrity of a large-scale hardware connection between two modules, such as in the context of high-speed digital printing, is tested by entering a diagnostic mode in which single-instruction handshake routines are repeatedly sent from one module to another through a parallel bus. Each handshake routine activates all of the communication lines in the bus. If a sending module does not receive the expected response to the single-instruction handshake routine within a predetermined time, the sending module causes an audible signal to be emitted. Service personnel can manually manipulate various cables, connectors, and sockets forming a hardware connection while the system is in diagnostic mode, to isolate the location of a hardware fault.

Method and apparatus for testing a connection between digital processing

An apparatus in which an altered copy of an original document is produced. An editing device associated with an electrophotographic printing machine changes the information in the original document and generates a signal indicative of the changes therein. The information is stored in an erasable read-only memory. The erasable read-only memory is inserted into the copying machine to conrol the formation of the copies so as to correspond to the edited original document.

An apparatus and method in conjunction with a copier and/or a collator is disclosed for providing on-line and off-line insertion of sheet material or collation, respectively. The apparatus includes a single supply tray and sheet feeder therefor. The supply tray is pre-loaded with one or more types of insert material, each type being separated by a coded sheet. As the insert sheets are fed, a sensor detects the coded sheet which is fed to an overflow tray and further feeding from the supply tray is inhibited until additional copy sheets from the copier is supplied in the on-line mode of operation, or a different type of material is to be collated in the off-line mode.
