Octyl ethers and octadienyl ethers of glucose, sucrose, are disclosed. Compositions comprised of a mixture of octyl ethers of glucose and sucrose and those containing octadienyl ethers of sugar acids are also disclosed.

Octyl ethers and octadienyl ethers

Octyl ethers and octadienyl ethers of glucose, sucrose, bisphenol A, 4-substituted-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidines are disclosed. Compositions comprised of a mixture of octyl ethers of glucose and sucrose and those containing octadienyl ethers of sugar acids and ring-opened epoxidized octadienyl ethers are also disclosed as are telomerization processes.

Telomerization of 1,3-butadiene

Disclosed is a high yield process for preparing di-substituted imidazoline fabric conditioning compounds. In this process, an acylating agent such as fatty acid is reacted with a specific polyamine, and the product of this reaction is thereafter reacted with either a fatty acid ester or glyceride under specifically-defined conditions and in the presence of an esterifying catalyst such as titanium alkoxide. Use of particular reaction conditions and an esterification catalyst significantly increases the yield of di-substituted imidazoline compounds.

Glycerol ether sulfates suitable for the production of manual dishwashing detergents and liquid and powdered laundry detergents are obtained by reaction of glycerol ethers in liquid phases with gaseous sulfur trioxide and subsequent neutralization with aqueous bases.

Disclosed are detergent compositions containing an imidazoline component. These detergent compositions provide excellent cleaning as well as fabric care benefits. The imidazoline component consists of particles having an average particle diameter of from about 20 to about 200 microns. These granular detergent compositions may optionally contain clay materials, detergent builders, chelating agents, and/or peroxygen bleaching agents.

Fluronaphthalene chromium tricarbonyls useful as hydrogenation catalysts are disclosed. Compositions suitable for hydrogenation comprise glycerides, nonglyceride esters, or mixtures thereof having polyunsaturated fatty acid residues, in particular polyunsaturated vegetable oils and those containing methyl linoleate. After being placed in a reactor having an inert inner surface, the polyunsaturated fatty acid residue-containing composition is contacted with hydrogen in the presence of the fluoronaphthalene chromium tricarbonyl to effect hydrogenation of the polyunsaturated fatty acid residues.
