A blood collection canister assembly enables a user to collect and transfer blood and includes liner and lid assemblies. The liner assembly is formed from a flexible liner material and defines an inner liner space. The lid assembly includes a primary lid portion attached to an upper mouth of the liner assembly and includes a series of ports. The series of ports may include a vacuum port, a patient port, a transfer port, and an additive port. The vacuum port is communicable with a vacuum line for directing blood transfer from a patient via the blood collection canister assembly. The patient port receives directed blood transfer from the patient, and the transfer port transfers collected blood to a separate reservoir for further processing. The blood collection canister assembly is usable in either an upright, first configuration for collecting and transferring blood or an inverted, second configuration for transferring collected blood.

A system and method for autologous normovolemic hemodilution (ANH) are disclosed. The system can include a vacuum canister, which is sized to accept donor bags of a predetermined capacity. The vacuum canister is connected to a vacuum source which applies a suction to the donor bag within the canister. The system can include a canister having a self-generated vacuum, which includes compressible sidewalls that are spring-loaded to provide negative pressure needed to collect blood from a patient without the use of a gravity-induced siphon gradient. Also disclosed are ANH systems and kits that rely on a gravity-induced siphon gradient for blood collection.

Apparatus and method for autologous normovolemic hemodilution

A grill cover device includes a flexible cover defining a hollow recess having an open mouth. The recess is adapted to receive an associated grill therein when the flexible cover is in an expanded condition. A flexible resilient frame is connected to the flexible cover. The frame exerts a biasing force on said flexible cover to bias the cover into its expanded condition. The frame and the flexible cover are selectively resiliently deformable as a unit against the biasing force of the frame into a collapsed storage configuration in which the frame and cover are folded upon themselves.
