Vinyl ether-terminated polyester oligomer stabilizers for vinyl

This invention relates to vinyl ether-based coatings for which properties such as color stability, thermal stability, mechanical stability, hydrolytic stability, and resistance to embrittlement may be maintained and properties hydrogen generation and blocking are minimized. The coatings comprise a vinyl ether-containing composition polymerizable by actinic, gamma ray, or electron beam radiation comprising: (a) an oligomer or a mixture of oligomers which are monofunctional, multifunctional, or a mixture of both monofunctional and multifunctional and which have a reactive functionality chosen from the group consisting of epoxy, acrylate, vinyl ether, maleate, or mixtures thereof; (b) monomers which are monofunctional, multifunctional, or a mixture of both monofunctional and multifunctional monomers and which have a reactive functionality chosen from the group consisting of epoxy, acrylate, vinyl ether, maleate, or mixtures thereof, wherein at least one of (a) or (b) must contain a vinyl ether functionality; (c) a photoinitiator, optionally including a sensitizer, chosen from the group consisting of a cationic photoinitiator and a radical photoinitiator; and (d) a thermal oxidation stabilizer. Adhesion to a substrate, particularly glass, is achieved by coupling agents including vinyl ether urethane siloxane compounds.

Adhesion promoters for vinyl ether-based coating systems

This invention relates to vinyl ether-based coatings for which properties such as color stability, thermal stability, mechanical stability, hydrolyric stability, and resistance to embrittlement may be maintained and properties hydrogen generation and blocking are minimized. The invention also relates to stabilizers which control these properties in the coatings. The coatings comprise a vinyl ether-containing composition polymerizable by actinic, gamma ray, or electron beam radiation comprising: (a) an oligomer or a mixture of oligomers which are monofunctional, multifunctional, or a mixture of both monofunctional and multifunctional and which have a reactive functionality chosen from the group consisting of epoxy, acrylate, vinyl ether, maleate, or mixtures thereof, (b) monomers which are monofunctional, multifunctional, or a mixture of both monofunctional and multifunctional monomers and which have a reactive functionality chosen from the group consisting of epoxy, acrylate, vinyl ether, maleate, or mixtures thereof, wherein at least one of (a) or (b) must contain a vinyl ether functionality; (c) a photoinitiator with an optional sensitizer, said photoinitiator which is chosen from the group consisting of a cationic photoinitiator and a radical photoinitiator; and (d) a thermal oxidation stabilizer. The composition also comprises additives comprising at least one additive chosen from the group consisting of: (e) a hydrogen stabilizer; (f) a light screen; (g) a color stabilizer; (h) a blocking stabilizer or slip agent; and (j) a coupling agent.

Stabilizers for vinyl ether-based coating systems

Polymer precursor formulations suitable for stereolithography may be prepared from compositions containing vinyl ether functionalized compounds and epoxy functionalized compounds plus an effective amount of a cationic photoinitiator.

Hydrogen stabilizers for vinyl ether-based coating systems

A radiation curable coating composition comprising acrylate oligomers and monomers, vinyl ether monomers, and a free radical photoinitiator. The vinyl ether monomers replace N-vinyl-pyrrolidone or other undesirable reactive diluents while retaining or modifying the properties of coatings using such diluents.

Free radical co-polymerization of acrylates and vinyl ethers

Vinyl ether terminated ester oligomers having a range of molecular weights are prepared by reacting a vinyl ether terminated polybasic ester with a polyol in the presence of a catalyst. Continual removal of a hydroxy monovinyl ether avoids formation compounds containing acetal moieties. Alternatively, a polybasic ester is chain extended with a polyol with continual removal of the alcohol by-product. Then, the terminal ester moieties are end capped with a monohydroxy vinyl ether. The oligomers have application in coatings and the like.

A vinyl ether oligomer especially useful for coatings is prepared by reacting an hydroxyl-terminated polyester, a diisocyanate, and a hydroxy monovinyl ether having formulas as defined herein.

Polyester chain-extended vinyl ether urethane oligomers

A conveyor installation comprises a framework having stationary guides with plastic contact surfaces. A conveyor belt is mounted for travel on the framework and includes plastic carriers mounted on plastic chain links. The carriers are supported for sliding contact with some of the guides which define vertical support rails. The carriers are connected to the links by upstanding coupling members. Plastic clip-on sleeves are mounted on the coupling members for engagement with some of the stationary guides to minimize wear of the chain, while assuring a low friction sliding contact between the chain and the guides. Snap-on pan guides are insertable into recesses of the carriers.
