A kickover tool having a ratcheting mechanism comprising a ratchet arm and a ratchet track. The ratchet arm is pivotally attached to an arm assembly and the ratchet track is attached to a surface of the main body. A method for operating the kickover tool apparatus can include the tool being able to traverse a tubing string and place or retrieve a tool or object from a side pocket mandrel. A string of two or more kickover tool apparatuses can be used to retrieve and/or place two or more separate tools or objects in one or more side pocket mandrels during a single trip operation. The kickover tool can function without placing any side loads on the side pocket device during the placing or retrieving procedure, thereby preventing any bending or fracturing of the side pocket device.

Kickover tool with ratcheting arm and methods of use

A surface controlled subsurface safety valve assembly includes primary and secondary valves, such as an upper and lower flapper valve. Only one of the valves is in service at a time. In the event that the primary valve is compromised, and therefore leaks, the SCSSV is shifted to position the primary valve out of service and the secondary valve in service. The SCSSV may have more than two flappers, thereby providing multiple secondary valves, with only one valve in operation at any one time.

A harvester for harvesting stalks of sugarcane having a plurality of harvest chambers. Each harvest chamber has a pair of opposing side walls that forming a V-shaped forward opening for receiving sugarcane stalks to be cut for harvest and a plurality of revolving, opposing, resilient conveyor belts for grabbing, holding and feeding the sugarcane stalks through the chambers in a substantially upright position. Each harvest chamber has a plurality of adjustable blowers to selectively direct a high velocity air stream onto the sugarcane stalks to remove unwanted foliage from the sugarcane stalks and a vacuum system to suction unwanted foliage from the harvest chambers to a foliage collection chamber located within the harvester. Each harvest chamber has a sugarcane stalk cutting mechanism that includes a cutting fluid storage tank and a conduit and pump system to deliver the cutting fluid through hydraulic jets to the sugarcane stalks at a pressure and velocity sufficient for cutting the sugarcane stalks at desired locations along their length as the sugarcane cane stalks move through the harvest chambers and a conveyer system to deliver the cut sugarcane stalks from the harvest chamber to a desired location within the harvester. A control system is provided to control the various harvester systems.

Sugarcane harvester and harvesting system

A system and method for lessening impact on Christmas trees during downhole operations involving Christmas trees, by way of example and not limitation such as cementing processes. The system comprises an outer housing defining a chamber, a lubricator assembly disposed in the outer housing, and an inner sleeve slidably disposable within the chamber. The method uses the system of the present invention by inserting the inner sleeve into the lubricator assembly; lowering the inner sleeve into the Christmas tree to a predetermined position extending into a tubing hanger associated with the tree; introducing fluids through a fluid line coupled to the lubricator assembly, the fluids passing through a conduit within the inner sleeve into the wellbore; and retrieving the lubricator assembly upon completion of fluid introduction into the wellbore. In alternative embodiments, the inner sleeve may be retracted and withdrawn with the lubricator assembly upon completion of fluid introduction into the wellbore.

System and method for lessening impact on Christmas trees during downhole operations involving Christmas trees

A moon pool platform containment system is disclosed for a vessel comprising a first moon pool having a width, length, and depth, to aid in stabilizing moon pool platform motion to achieve a motion compensated moon pool submerged platform, the moon pool platform containment system a platform having a predetermined opening therethrough, the opening defining a second moon pool, the platform being sized smaller than the width and length of the first moon pool; at least one leg connected to the platform, the leg having a predetermined length; a source of leveling material; and a chamber in communication with the source of leveling material via a leveling material conduit. Leveling material may be supplied to or transferred from the chamber to supply positive or negative floatation as dictated by forces on the platform. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope of meaning of the claims.

System and method for a motion compensated moon pool submerged platform

In a multiple well completion, spaced apart production packers isolate independent production zones from one another. In each isolated production zone, a side pocket mandrel with a full opening bore has lengthwise extending side by side elongated pockets (1) for receiving a static pressure measuring instrument or tool (static pressure pocket); (2) for providing a venturi flow passageway (flow passageway pocket); and (3) for receiving a differential pressure measuring tool (differential pressure pocket). The static pressure measuring tool and the differential pressure measuring tool or instrument are commonly connected by a data coupling means to a single electrical conductor line which is strapped to the string of tubing and extends to the earth's surface for transmission of control signals and data signals between the earth's surface and the various side pocket tools. The venturi flow passageway is connected for fluid communication with the static pressure pocket and the differential pressure pocket in the side pocket mandrel. Fluid flow from a particular production zone is channeled through the respective venturi flow passageway to the full opening bore and the fluid flow parameters are communicated to the static pressure measuring tool and to the differential pressure tool. The flow passageway is constructed and arranged to develop a differential pressure which is measured by the differential pressure measuring tool. At the same time, the static pressure of the production fluid in the production zone is measured by the static pressure measuring tool. Both the differential pressure measurements and the static pressure measurements may be transmitted to the surface and recorded as a function of real time.

Side pocket mandrel

The present invention is a combination wireline retrievable, side pocket locatable, fluid measurement and control assembly, which permits measurement and control of fluid from a first downhole production zone while maintaining fluid flow through the tubing from other downhole production zones. The various components of the fluid measurement and control assembly may be separately installed in or retrieved from by either wireline or coiled tubing intervention methods and can remain installed in the production tubing while installing or retrieving other downhole tools through wireline or coiled tubing intervention methods.

Combination side pocket mandrel flow measurement and control assembly

A pipeline connector apparatus comprising piston actuated means for gripping and sealing a pipe comprising a cylinder having an inner surface, the cylinder having a first groove for receiving a spring biased ring, a piston movable in the cylinder and actuating one of the gripping and sealing means, the piston having a second groove holding a spring biased ring. A plurality of compressible and relaxable spring biased rings are provided, each having an outer surface and a radius such that each will compress within the second groove and will expand within the first groove. The outer surfaces of the different rings have shoulders of different widths which allows the operator to control the piston stroke in the cylinder. The apparatus further comprises a means for predetermining and/or monitoring the displacement of the pistons.

Pipeline connection apparatus

An anti-extrusion apparatus for a seal sealing on the outside diameter of a conduit. The anti-extrusion device is positioned at each end of the seal and includes a metal ring engaging an end of the seal in which the ring has a wedge shaped inside. A plurality of arcuate ring segments form a close ring having inner diameter equal to the outside diameter of the conduit. The segments have a wedge shaped outside coacting with the metal ring and are wedged inwardly against the conduit prior to compression of the seal for reducing extrusion of the seal as it is compressed.

Anti-extrusion apparatus for an inwardly compressed seal

A flanged coupling for the repair of pipe lines which is engagable over an open pipe. A piston is actuated by drawing two flanges together and setting a slip and a packing to anchor and seal the coupling unit to the pipe. Tension and compression in the pipe does not affect the packing as a ring is positioned between the slip and the packing and its movement towards the packing is limited.

Flanged repair coupling for pipeline service

Replacing a section of a pipeline by indenting the pipeline from the outside to provide a stop shoulder on the inside adjacent the section to be replaced. Positioning and securing an anchoring and seal pig in the pipeline against the stop shoulder, removing the section of the pipeline to be replaced including the stop shoulder, replacing a new section, and releasing and removing the anchoring and seal pig in order to provide space for the replacement section. A part of the anchoring and seal pig is removed prior to replacing a new section.

A flanged coupling for the repair of pipelines and risers, especially for sub-marine repair and construction, and of unit configuration engageable over a first open pipe section and its flange to seal with a flange of a second open pipe section, and having a piston actuated by drawing said two flanges together and a shear member sequentially controlling operation of a slip and a packing to anchor and seal the coupling unit to the first pipe section operating a slip and a packing to anchor and seal the coupling unit to the first pipe section.

Flanged repair coupling for pipe line service

An apparatus for welding a section of pipeline onto an existing pipeline, the process including the steps of cutting away the section of damaged pipeline; providing a apparatus insertable within each end of the existing line for venting off gas within the line to create a gas free safety zone around the cut ends of the line; providing a flange for welding onto the ends of the line, the flange including a ring for sealingly engaging the face of a mating flange to effect an initial seal between the flanges while a weld bead is welded in place between the mating flanges. Following the welding, there is provided a test port in the wall of the flange for allowing air or fluid to be injected into the annular space between the metal sealed ring and the weld so as to test for any leak in the weld in place. Further, the sealing ring and test ports are in a position so that the exterior weld between the flanges may be X-rayed for any flaws within the weld.
