A latch system 34 for the nacelle cowling 24 of a gas turbine engine 10 is disclosed. The latch system includes a coupling 36 which may be remotely operated by means of a cable 44. In one embodiment, a support structure 14, the coupling, the cable and a linkage system 48 for applying tension to the cable extends circumferentially about the interior of the cowling to provide constricting force on the cowling to increase the structural rigidity of the cowling. In another embodiment, the coupling has jaws 58 and 60 which are movable from a locked to an unlocked position as a result of the relative movement between the jaws and a housing 50. A linkage system is provided for tensioning the cable which in the locked position uses the tension in the cable to resist operative forces which might seek to open the latching system.

In a gas turbine engine the vent for the bearing compartment has a restriction therein to control the airflow from the compartment and this restriction is variable in response to an engine parameter so as to control the pressure drop across the air seals for the compartment.

Means for controlling air scavenge pressure in the bearing compartment

A dual or single wall coupling for a fuel line for capturing fluid in the event that leakage occurs at the main coupling and/or the primary tube comprising a lightweight slidable sleeve element shrouding the primary coupling engaging on its inner diameter axially spaced radial seals. The sleeve assembly permits the utilization of commercially available standard couplings and eliminates the tedious assembly techniques required that were necessary heretofore.

Co-axial tube coupling

A valve having a translatable annular slot communicates with discretely shaped and judiciously located elongated, variable width slots for metering fuel to individual fuel nozzles in a burner of a jet engine without changing the fuel scheduling characteristics of the fuel control. The valve can have sequential lighting capabilities in the event that the burner is designed with this feature.

Fuel distribution valve for a gas turbine engine

In the connection between the unison ring and the actuating arms carried by the several vanes of a variable stator ring in an axial flow compressor and providing for turning the vanes as the unison ring is moved, the pivot that must permit angular misalignment, relative rotation and axial movement is an elliptical-shaped bushing mounted on either the ring or arm and engaging a cylindrical surface on the other of the ring or arm. The bushing is normally mounted on a pin and the cylindrical surface is provided by a sleeve, the elliptical element having slidable engagement with the sleeve. The bushing may be a metallic spring or may be made of an elastomer.
