A Forward Fabric platform system for coupling to a data center platform. The Forward Fabric platform system includes a plurality of nodes, an interconnect backplane coupled between the nodes, and a Forward Fabric Manager (FFM) coupled to the nodes via the interconnect backplane for controlling and managing the Forward Fabric platform system. The Forward Fabric manager creates at least one secure partition (s-Par) application executing within at least one of the nodes. At least one of the nodes having a secure partition (s-Par) application executing therein also includes a software defined network (SDN) controller executing therein for receiving configuration information and providing at least one secure and non-stop Forward Fabric endpoint on the Forward Fabric platform system for connecting with at least one endpoint on the data center platform. At least one of the nodes having a secure partition (s-Par) application executing therein also includes a traffic control component and a router switch component. At least one the nodes is coupled to the data center platform via one or more non-stop fabric segments.

Fabric computing system having an embedded software defined network

Embodiments of the present invention provide a virtualization infrastructure that allows multiple guest operating systems to run and communicate amongst each other within a host hardware partition. The host system is divided into distinct logical/virtual partitions and special infrastructure partitions are implemented to control resource management and to control physical I/O device drivers that are, in turn, used by operating systems in other distinct logical/virtual guest partitions. Host hardware resource management runs as a tracking application in a resource management 'ultravisor' partition, while host resource management decisions are performed in a higher-level command partition based on policies maintained in a separate operations partition. The ultravisor partition maintains the master database of the hardware resource allocations and serves as a command channel to accept transactional requests for assignment of resources to partitions while also providing individual read-only views of individual partitions to the associated partition monitors.

The present invention provides systems and methods for allocating a pool of global memory among a set of client/servers so that storage volumes associated with a plurality of client/servers are each allocated a portion of the pool of global memory for caching of data from that volume. The amount of memory to be used for caching the volume's input/output operations (I/Os), the page size, the cache type, the cache replacement policy and the maximum cache read can be specified by volume. The amount of memory to be used for caching the volume's input/output operations, the cache type, the cache replacement policy and the maximum cache read I/O size can be changed dynamically by the changing volume-based attributes.

This invention relates to an arrangement for sealing a closed chamber in which equipment is to be replaced and especially to a chamber in which equipment is to be replaced while the chamber is to be maintained closed. A system is disclosed for neutralizing the punching reaction forces in an open frame punch press in which inclined primary links mounted on the upper and lower frame members are stressed by linkage actuators during punching so as to counteract the punching reaction force. In one embodiment, a charging cylinder mounted to be acted on by the punch ram actuator generates hydraulic pressure used to operate linkage actuators. In that embodiment, the primary links are combined with secondary links to form toggle linkages to enable mechanical force multiplication of the force applied by the linkage actuators. In another embodiment the primary links converge and are pivotally connected at their rear ends to each other and a single secondary link, with a single cylinder at the forward end of one of the primary links, placing the primary links in tension during punching operations to neutralize the punching reaction forces acting on the press frame.

A multitool punch holder is disclosed in which a tool carrier (22) holds a circumferential array of punches (76) in a corresponding series of bores. Each punch (76) is attached to a stem rod (50) having an upper end protruding above the tool carrier (22). The tool carrier (22) is rotated by an index drive (102, 104, 106, 108) so as to bring a selected one of the stem rods (50) beneath a ram drive features (100) protruding radially outward to lie above the stem rod ends (52). The tool carrier (22) is coupled to the ram (14) by a head member (20) which is telescopically received therein allowing the ram (14) to continue its descent after contact of the tool carrier (22) with the workpiece, the ram (14) having a feature (100) engaging a selected stem rod end (52) lying beneath the ram drive feature (100) to cause advance of the attached punch (76) against the resistance of an encircling stripper spring (62).

A multitool punch holder (12) having a head member (26) coupled to a punch press ram (16) as the press upper turret plate (22) rotates to bring the punch holder (12) into alignment with the ram (16). The punch holder (12) includes a rotary tool carrier (56) carrying a series of punches (80), each able to be selectively rotated into alignment beneath a striker rod (100) slidably mounted in a non rotating body member (30). Stroking of the ram (16) causes an engagement feature (108) to engage the striker rod (100) when the head member (26) telescopes into the body member (30) after axial movement of the holder (12) is arrested by contact with the workpiece (120). The striker rod (100) is then driven to force the coupled individual punch (80) into the workpiece (120). The striker rod (100) is urged to a raised position by an encircling stripper spring (110). A separation spring (42) urges the ram (16) and body member (30) to retracted position with the striker rod (100) out of engagement with the ram engagement feature (108). A detachable striker plate (88) of urethane provides non-marring contact with the workpiece (120).

A sorter-stacker arrangement for sheet part pieces (17) such as are produced by a punch press (18), in which part pieces are unloaded onto a sorter table (50) in a located position against any one of a row of stops (52), and conveyed along an X-axis as by translation of the conveyor table therealong. A pair of storage racks (36) are disposed on opposite sides of the sorter table (50), each having a vertical array of open spaces facing the sorter table (50). The sorter table (50) is elevated to the preselected position, and advanced into the appropriate storage space (38). After lowering of the stripper gates (104), the sorter table (50) is retracted to align the part piece 17 by contact of the stripper gate (104) with the inside edge of the part piece (17) and stripped on to the stack as the sorter table (50) returns to the central position.

A punch press (20) having a worktable (40) for supporting a worksheet (21), a two axis positioning mechanism for positioning the worksheet under a punching head (34) and universal grippers (44, 46) supported on the worksheet positioning mechanism which can grip either the end or sides of a worksheet (21). The two axis positioning mechanism is formed from a carriage (42) which is movable along the worktable (40) and a cross slide (41) which is mounted from and movable across the carriage (42) to provide the two axis sheet positioning. The grippers (44, 46) are mounted from a T-slot (130) formed in the cross slide (41) and can be moved to different positions to accommodate various sheet sizes. Aligning pins (140, 142, 143, 144) which can be used for aligning worksheets are provided. Aligning pins (140, 142, 143, 144) during operation are retracted beneath the worktable (40).

A sheet metal holder (20) utilizing a linear wedge action for use on a sheet metal working machine (10). A pair of holders (20) are movable on machine (10) to provide for two axes positioning of a worksheet. Workholder (20) is formed from a box shaped member (32) having a pivot arm (31) movable about a pivot connection (42) within box member (32) and extending therefrom. A fixed jaw (34) extends from box member (32). A movable clamping jaw (30) is formed at the free end of pivot arm (31). A linear actuator bar (26) engages pivot arm (31) and forces jaws (31, 34) to close on a worksheet. Linear actuator bar (26) and pivot arm (31) are constructed to make the workholder (20) self locking. An appropriate actuator is provided for positioning bar (26).
