A carrier assembly having at least one sealing cup, a fluid bypass and adjustable wash nozzles, as well as a spear assembly having a central through bore, are attached to the distal end of a length of continuous tubing and inserted in to the flow bore of a pipeline. Fluid is pumped through the annular space between the carrier assembly and the pipeline, providing motive force for advancing the carrier assembly within the pipeline. Fluid can bypass the carrier assembly, enter the central bore of the spear assembly, and return to the surface through the central bore of the continuous tubing. A stuck pig or other obstruction is speared, and thereafter retrieved from the pipeline on the continuous tubing.

Method and apparatus for removal of pigs, deposits and other debris from pipelines and wellbores

A method of cleaning a tubular with a cleaning tool that includes the steps of disposing the cleaning tool in the tubular, the cleaning tool having a main body with a first end, a second end, an inlet, an outlet, and a propulsion relief assembly disposed proximate to the second end. The method further includes the steps of sufficiently pressurizing fluid behind the tubular to propel the cleaning tool along the tubular, and increasing the pressure of the fluid to actuate the propulsion relief assembly, whereby fluid is jetted out the outlet and out of the propulsion relief assembly.

A retrievable pig for cleaning blockage material from a pipeline, comprising a string of tubing within the pipeline from a proximate location at the entrance to the pipeline to a distal location within the pipeline, a pig assembly comprising a flexible cup which will collect pipeline blockage material, a seal which engages the internal bore of the pipeline being cleaned, and a connection to the distal end of the string of tubing; pushing the pig assembly with fluid in the annular area between the internal bore of the pipeline and the outer diameter of the string of tubing until the pig assembly engages the blockage material, and pumping a flow of fluid thru the internal string of tubing to a location beyond a portion of the blockage material, the flow of fluid urging the pig assembly and the portion of the blockage material towards the proximate location.

Method of pipeline remediation with a scoop

A retrievable pig apparatus having a substantially cylindrical body portion, the body portion having a central flow bore therethrough, and secured to coiled tubing, including a central fluid flow bore in fluid communication with the interior bore of the coiled tubing; a plurality of flow bores spaced equally apart within the body, with the flow bores allowing fluid flow to be injected at a certain predetermined pressure through the flow bores, so as to be emitted on the front end of the pig for defining a high pressure spray of fluid or the like material to break up blockages of debris in the pipeline, such as paraffin or the like; the debris retrieved through the central bore back into the coiled tubing to be stored in a tank or the like on the surface. There is further included a plurality of flexible cups, spaced apart along the outer wall of the pig body, each cup secured to an interior metallic ring around the body of the pig, with the flexible cups making contact with the wall of the pipeline so as to provide a continuous fluid seal between the wall of the pipeline and the ends of the plurality of flexible cups. Intermediate each cup there is provided a compressible safety ring, which will compress under excess pipeline pressure, thus allowing the fluid to flow past the plurality of flexible cups, reducing the pressure in the pipeline. Further there is provided within the plurality of six flow bores around the interior flow bore, for adjusting the force that is allowed to flow through the plurality of bores in either direction by providing a first and second thruster springs of a pre-determined compressible force for allowing the spring to be compressed and effecting fluid flow therethrough in the direction in which the flow is to travel in the bores.

Bi-directional thruster pig apparatus and method of utilizing same

The method of operating a subsurface safety valve and preventing or remediating the formations of hydrate, wax, or paraffin solids in the well bore of an oil or gas well comprising coating the external area of the intermediate portion of a string of tubing to electrically insulate said intermediate portion of said string of tubing, inserting said surface control valve into a well bore pipe on a string of tubing, electrically grounding said surface control valve to said well bore pipe, communicating an electrical signal from the surface along said string of tubing, to said surface control valve, and along said well bore pipe back to said surface, closing said surface control valve upon the interruption of said electrical signal, and using the electrical resistance of said string of tubing to heat the wall of said string of tubing.

Electrical tubing control and remediation apparatus and method of use

A retrievable pig apparatus having a substantially cylindrical body portion, the body portion having a central flow bore therethrough, and secured to coiled tubing, including a central fluid flow bore in fluid communication with the interior bore of the coiled tubing; a plurality of flow bores spaced equally apart within the body, with the flow bores allowing fluid flow to be injected at a certain predetermined pressure through the flow bores, so as to be emitted on the front end of the pig for defining a high pressure spray of fluid or the like material to break up blockages of debris in the pipeline, such as paraffin or the like; the debris retrieved through the central bore back into the coiled tubing to be stored in a tank or the like on the surface. There is further included a plurality of flexible cups, spaced apart along the outer wall of the pig body, each cup secured to an interior metallic ring around the body of the pig, with the flexible cups making contact with the wall of the pipeline so as to provide continuous fluid seal between the wall of the pipeline and the ends of the plurality of flexible cups. Intermediate each cup there is provided a compressible safety ring, which will compress under excess pipeline pressure, thus allowing the fluid to flow past the plurality of flexible cups, reducing the pressure in the pipeline. Further there is provided within the plurality of six flow bores around the interior flow bore, for adjusting the force that is allowed to flow through the plurality of bores in either direction by providing a first and second thruster springs of a predetermined compressible force for allowing the spring to be compressed and effecting fluid flow therethrough in the direction in which the flow is to travel in the bores.

A new method and apparatus have been developed which inserts and withdraws tubing from pipes without bending or kinking the tubing. Beneficially, the new method and apparatus may be employed to insert and withdraw tubing to depths greater than ever possible before. The method involves using a thruster pig to provide force to inject the tubing, and skate apparatuses to reduce coiling and friction of the tube. Advantageously, the apparatus is portable, easily handled, and adaptable to handle tubing of differing diameters.

Method of injecting tubing down pipelines

A method and apparatus have been developed which inserts and withdraws tubing from pipes without bending or kinking the tubing. Beneficially, the method and apparatus may be employed to insert and withdraw tubing to depths greater than ever possible before. The method involves using a thruster pig to provide force to inject the tubing. The thruster pig uses a pressure differential to urge the tubing into and out of the pipe. Advantageously, check valves or relief valves allow fluid to be pumped down the tubing and out the front of the thruster pig, and then to flow back through the valves and up the annulus between the pipe and the tubing.
