A combination flexible web roller guide assembly and an integral centrifugal pump (fan) functional device located inside the roller's outer surface where an air bearing flexible web support Hydrostatic air film is created upon the roller guide's exterior circular surface. The air bearing film is created when a web is mounted onto the roller's exterior surface with web tension applied and the roller's Outer Tube is rotated by some external means. This results in a web support device that possesses the advantages of roller guides AND air bearings, and none of their disadvantages. A highly reliable mechanical device is obtained simply by the incorporation of centrifugal fan-like vanes and an air path from the atmospheric exterior, to inside the outer tube of the roller into spaces between the vanes, and finally through multiple air ports located on the roller's outer tube surface. Air is pumped with Centrifugal Forces generated by the Roller-Air Pump device being rotated by any external means.

The Bernoulli Pockets provide the mechanism that forces the media to fly very close to the recording head gap(s). The design is not limited to a particular width of tape and can be used on many different data recorders using various width media. It will work well at low, medium or high speeds, but it's main advantage is reliable operation at high speeds (above 3 Meters/Sec or 120 Inches/Second).

A fishing rod wrapping device consisting of a fixed frame adapted to support one or more spools of wrapping thread for axial rotation, a friction device resisting rotation of said spool whereby thread may be paid out therefrom under a controlled and adjustable tension, a support for a fishing rod adapted to support the rod in parallel relation to the spool, so that the thread, when attached to the rod, is wrapped on the rod when the rod is manually rotated about its axis, the rod support being configurated to maintain the rod parallel to the spool, to retain the rod thereon despite any degree of thread tension, and to permit locking of the rod against movement relative to the spool whenever interruption of the wrapping process may be desired, whereby to preserve both the rod position and the thread tension until the process is recommenced.

A device for determining the string tension in the netting of a racket has a base and clamping structure adapted to be intercoupled on opposite faces of the netting, and a compressible, spring-loaded plunger slidably mounted on the base for shifting movement against one face of the netting. Movement of the plunger against the face of the netting deflects the latter and also compresses the plunger such that an equilibrium position is reached wherein the compression force on the plunger spring is equal to the resistance force presented by tension in the strings of the racket netting. A tension gauge is provided for measuring the deflection of the netting at the equilibrium point and translating the deflection measurement into a tension reading corresponding substantially to the actual tension in the racket strings.
