The present disclosure provides techniques for calibration systems and methods for additive manufacturing systems with multiple image projection. In some embodiments, a method of calibrating two or more image projectors of a photoreactive 3D printing system (PRPS) includes: projecting a sub-image from each of the two or more image projectors; measuring light from an image projector using a light sensor of a calibration system; receiving a signal from the light sensor; processing information from the light sensor; and changing a parameter of a sub-image based on the processed information. In some cases, a PRPS includes a calibration fixture comprising the light sensor. In some cases, a PRPS can be calibrated using a modular calibration fixture comprising the light sensor, wherein the modular calibration fixture can be coupled to the PRPS, leveled and height adjusted, and then a calibration routine can be performed.

Calibration systems and methods for additive manufacturing systems with multiple image projection

Methods of creating additive manufactured parts include selectively dispensing a second composition onto a top surface of a first composition in a vat. The second composition is dispensed in a shape area according to a layer of a part to be created by additive manufacturing. Polymerization components for formation of the layer are kept separate from each other until the dispensing, with at least one of the polymerization components being in the second composition. The top surface is illuminated to expose the first composition and the second composition to light having a polymerization wavelength, thereby causing polymerization of the layer of the part only in the shape area where the second composition was dispensed.

A three-dimensional printing system for fabricating a three-dimensional article includes a resin vessel, a motorized build plate, an imaging bar, and a movement mechanism. The resin vessel is for containing a photocurable resin, the photocurable resin having an upper resin surface. The motorized build plate is for supporting the three-dimensional article in the photocurable resin. The imaging bar includes a plurality of light emitting devices arranged along a transverse axis for emitting light generally downwardly and a transparent sheet disposed below the plurality of light emitting devices. The transparent sheet has a lower surface to contact the resin and define a build plane below the upper surface of the resin. The movement mechanism is for imparting movement of the imaging bar along a scan axis.

Methods of producing an additive manufactured part with a smooth surface finish and customized properties include creating a compensated design that serves as a print recipe for an additive manufacturing process for a part, where the creating comprises modifying a desired design with a geometric offset correction to compensate for a first portion of an uncured surface finish material to be retained on the part. A spinning device is provided that has a platform. The part is formed with the additive manufacturing process and secured to the platform, where the part is at least partially wetted with the uncured surface finish material. The platform is rotated, where a second portion of the uncured surface finish material is removed due to forces imparted by the rotating. The uncured surface finish material is chosen to customize a property of the part.

Methods of creating additive manufactured parts include providing a first composition in a vat, where the first composition is a liquid with a first viscosity. A build platform is placed adjacent to and submerged under a top surface of the first composition. A second composition is dispensed on the top surface, the second composition having a second viscosity and being dispensed in a shape area according to a part to be created. The top surface is illuminated to expose the first composition and second composition to light having a polymerization wavelength, thereby causing polymerization of at least one of the first composition or second composition. In some embodiments, the first composition is a base resin that is absent of a photoinitiator, and the second composition is a photoinitiator solution. The photoinitiator solution may have a second viscosity that is less than the first viscosity of the base resin.

A three dimensional printing system includes a resin vessel, a light engine, a movement mechanism, a fixture, and a controller. The resin vessel is for containing a photocurable resin and has a lower portion with a transparent sheet. The light engine is configured to selectively project radiation up through the transparent sheet and over a build plane. The fixture is coupled to the movement mechanism and has a lower face that faces the transparent sheet. The controller is configured to operate the light engine to solidify a particle trapping sheet proximate to the build plane thereby trapping particles that extend upwardly from the transparent sheet into the build plane.

An example device, for sealing an ink developer unit in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure includes a rigid plate. The device also includes a first compliant sealing member disposed on a first side of the rigid plate to form a seal between the number of rollers of the ink developer unit and the rigid plate. The device also includes a second compliant sealing member disposed on a second side of the rigid plate to form a seal between the rigid plate and an end cap of the ink developer unit. The first compliant sealing member, the second compliant sealing member, or combinations thereof include a developer roller arm aligned with an interior portion of a developer roller face and to allow ink to contact the developer roller face.

Apparatus and methods are provided. A supply of ink within a flexible bag is located apart from a printer. A fluid conduit couples the supply of ink to the printer by way of a connecting head. The connecting head includes a pump driven by a mechanical actuator of the printer. Operation of the pump causes a flow of ink from the flexible bag to a printhead of the printer. Pump failure is detected and interpreted as an out-of-ink condition, and user notification and/or cessation of printing operations are automatically performed.

A sealing device includes a base member configured to attach to an ink developer unit, a sealing member having a sealing surface configured to at least one of limit an unwanted flow of ink outside of the ink developer unit and conform to an outer surface of a respective roller, and a compliant member disposed between the base member and the sealing member such that the compliant member is configured to vary a sealing force along the sealing surface of the sealing member.

Reducing print quality defects can include printing a pattern with an offset printing device having a binary ink developer roller, determining a variation for a hue shift of the printed pattern; and varying gain in a feedback loop of a servo motor coupled to the binary ink developer roller to reduce the variation.

A sealing device usable with an ink developer unit including a plurality of rollers and a plurality of end cap members includes a first replaceable compliant sealing member and a latch member. The first replaceable compliant sealing member has a plurality of replaceable seal exterior surfaces to form a seal between a first set of rollers of the plurality of rollers and one of the end cap members. The latch member has a closed state to maintain a sealing force on the first replaceable compliant sealing member and an open state to remove the sealing force on the first replaceable complaint sealing member.

A fluid ejection device includes a fluid chamber, a fluid restriction communicated with the fluid chamber, and a fluid channel communicated with the fluid restriction. The fluid restriction has a fluid restriction parameter defined as (2*W+2*H)*L/(H*W), wherein W is a width of the fluid restriction, H is a height of the fluid restriction, and L is a length of the fluid restriction. As such, the fluid restriction parameter is in a range of 1.5 to 5.75.

Disclosed herein are method and systems for printing a reactive ink and a fixer or second reactive ink onto a substrate from a single orifice plate, wherein orifice plate comprising at least two orifices; wherein at least one orifice prints a first reactive ink, and other orifice prints a fixer or second reactive ink. The reactive inks and the fixer reacts to form a precipitate which soluble in at least one of the fixer or the inks.
