A diversity antenna module comprising a first radiating element adapted to operate with a first transceiver circuit operating in at least one band and a second radiating element adapted to operate with a second transceiver circuit operating in at least one band. The first radiating element is disposed along a first side of a substrate and the second radiating element is disposed along a second side of the substrate, wherein the first and second sides are substantially perpendicular to each other, the first and second radiating elements being spatially dispersed from each another by a distance.

An antenna for diversity operation comprising a plurality of connected antenna units (). The antenna units each having a first radiation element () with length of a quarter of a wavelength at a first operating frequency a second radiation element () with length of a quarter of a wavelength at a second operating frequency distinct from the first operating frequency, the second radiation element sharing with the first radiation element a segment of the first radiation element. A feed point for coupling a feed to one of said first or second radiation elements such that the elements resonate at the first and second operating frequencies respectively and at substantially orthogonal polarizations. Compact radiation structure for diversity antennas

The present invention provides a method and apparatus to manipulate the mutual coupling and the correlation between the antennas () on the handset () without the need to change the physical distance between them or to change their orientation. The manipulation in the mutual coupling and in the correlation is achieved using a circuit that is connected between the antennas' terminals () and the terminals () of the RF front end/power amplifier (). This circuit can be fixed or tunable. The coupling control takes place between two transmitting antennas () or two receiving antennas ().

Real-time calibration of a tunable matching network that matches the dynamic impedance of an antenna in a radio frequency receiver system. The radio frequency receiver system includes two non-linear equations that may be solved to determine the reflection coefficient of the antenna. The tunable matching network is repeatedly perturbed and the power received by the antenna is measured after each perturbation at the same node in the matching network. The measured power values are used by an optimizer in converging to a solution that provides the reflection coefficient of the antenna. The reflection coefficient of the antenna may be used to determine the input impedance of the antenna. The elements of the matching circuit are then adjusted to match the input impedance of the antenna.

Dynamic real-time calibration for antenna matching in a radio frequency receiver system

A multiple-input-multiple output antenna for use with wireless communication comprises a first element a first radiation element operable to resonate at a first frequency and a second radiation element operable to resonate at a second frequency, wherein the second frequency is not an integer multiple of the first frequency. The first and second antenna radiation elements are each proximate to a ground plane and the respective resonance frequencies of the first radiation element and the second radiation element is achieved by controlling the electrical coupling between the first radiation element, the second radiation element and the ground plane and the resonance frequencies of the first and second radiation elements is controlled independently.
