A release composition comprising a waterborne latex polymer particles comprising the polymerization reaction product of: i) a first monomer having an alkyl group with 12 to 24 carbon atoms, a nitrogen-containing or ester linking group, and a free-radically polymerizable (meth)acryl group; ii) a second free-radically polymerizable monomer having less than 12 carbon atoms; and iii) a free-radically polymerizable surfactant; and an aqueous carrier liquid. Phase separated articles that include a matrix phase including an acrylate copolymer; and a silicone elastomer phase stably dispersed in the matrix phase are described. The matrix phase may be derived from precursors comprising from 60 to 95 parts by weight of an alkyl acrylate having an alkyl group having 1 to 14 carbon atoms. Methods of forming phase separated articles, and articles including phase separated articles are also described.

Provided is a method of forming a fibrin hydrogel composition, the method including providing a fibrin hydrogel or precursor thereof, comprising fibrin hydrogel forming salt. The fibrin hydrogel forming salt concentration is greater than or equal to the threshold concentration to form a fibrin hydrogel. The method further includes combining the fibrin hydrogel with a carrier material. The concentration of the carrier material typically ranges from 0.1 to about 50 wt.-%. The method further includes reducing the salt concentration below the threshold concentration to form a fibrin hydrogel.

Provided is a method of forming a fibrinogen hydrogel composition, the method including providing a fibrinogen hydrogel or precursor thereof, comprising fibrinogen hydrogel forming salt. The fibrinogen hydrogel forming salt concentration is greater than or equal to the threshold concentration to form a fibrinogen hydrogel. The method further includes denaturing the fibrinogen hydrogel such as by heating. The method optionally further includes combining the fibrinogen hydrogel with a carrier material. A copolymer composition that includes a silicone copolymer, methods of making the composition, and articles that include the composition, wherein the copolymer composition includes a silicone copolymer having a backbone composition that includes: silicone segments in an amount of 5 wt-% to 40 wt-%, based on the total weight of the silicone copolymer; hydrophilic segments in an amount of 40 wt-% to 75 wt-%, based on the total weight of the silicone copolymer; and reinforcing segments in an amount of 5 wt-% to 30 wt-%, based on the total weight of the silicone copolymer, wherein the reinforcing segments are derived from the reaction of one or more chain extenders with one or more multi-functional isocyanates, multi-functional carboxylic acids, multi-functional anhydrides, multi-functional esters, and/or multi-functional acid halides; wherein the silicone segments, hydrophilic segments, and reinforcing segments are connected through urea, urethane, amide, and/or oxamide linkages; wherein the hydrophilic segments and the reinforcing segments are present in a weight ratio of 1.8:1 to 8:1; and the hydrophilic segments and the silicone segments are present in a weight ratio of 1.3:1 to 4.5:1.

Silicone copolymers, methods of making, and articles

A stable transdermal adhesive composition comprising: an adhesive comprising a washed polymerization reaction product of at least two ethylenically unsaturated monomers; and at least one pharmaceutically active compound which is susceptible to oxidative degradation; wherein the at least two ethylenically unsaturated monomers, if present in the adhesive as unreacted monomers, are present at a level of less than 200 ppm of total unreacted monomer, based upon the total weight of the adhesive, methods of making the composition, a transdermal drug delivery device using the composition, methods of making the device, and methods of delivery the pharmaceutically active compound are provided.

Transdermal adhesive compositions, devices and methods

An apparatus for irradiating an article, particularly a multi-layer article, with electron beam radiation is provided. The apparatus contains a window having a short unit path length and allows for controlled irradiation of an article such that upper portions of the article receive significantly higher electron beam dosages than lower portions of the article. Such differential dosage allows for modification of an article comprising a coating composition that can be modified by electron beam irradiation on a substrate that is vulnerable to degradation from electron beam radiation. A method of irradiating an article with electron beams, and products manufactured using the apparatus and method of the invention, are also disclosed.
