An apparatus for applying sheets to substrates including a rotating blade roller with a blade on its surface; a vacuum roller rotating with the blade roller, oriented parallel to the blade roller, and with a surface adjacent to the blade roller surface; at least one slot in the vacuum roller surface into which the blade is inserted as the rollers rotate; and a feeder for feeding a continuous sheet between the rollers so that the sheet is cut into segments. The vacuum roller surface includes surface holes connected to a vacuum source during cutting and disconnected after cutting and manifold holes parallel to the roller axis and located in a circle below the surface. The manifold holes have open ends located at one end of the vacuum roller and are connected to the surface holes. There is at least one plate adjacent the end of the vacuum roller with the open ends. The plate includes at least two curved grooves on the surface matching the shape of the path traveled by the open ends. One of the grooves is connected to the vacuum source, and the other is connected to a positive pressure source. The end plate includes a threading groove attached to a vacuum source and located adjacent to a portion of rotation of the vacuum roller which precedes the location at which the sheet first contacts the vacuum roller. The threaded groove matches the shape of the path traveled by the open ends.

Release sheet application apparatus

The disclosure is for an apparatus and a method of adhering particulate matter to limited areas of adhesive on a moving web and enabling the use of a very limited amount of particulate matter so that material costs are minimized. The path of a moving web with zones of adhesive and with previously supplied loose particles is shaped to form a trough with substantially vertical sides, so that gravity clears the web of excess material as the web moves down and up through the trough. Meanwhile, the particles falling from the web, go into the bottom of the trough where they stay until they stick to a following portion of the web which has adhesive. The loose particles are thereby immediately recycled for use, without any exposure to other contaminating materials, and the amount of particulate material used approaches the ideal quantity which would be needed to cover only the adhesive areas.

Particulate coating apparatus and method

The apparatus is a storage and transport rack for deformable rolled goods. One or more shelves each support a single layer of rolls. The shelves have an open input side for loading, a padded backstop opposite the input side, and unobstructed ends for unloading individual rolls with a ram pole lift truck. The upper surface of the shelves is tilted relative to the horizontal with the input side higher, so that the rolls move to the padded backstop, and a sloped ramp at the input side of the shelves starts the rolls down the shelf and assures that the rolls will not roll off the input side. For transport, the rolls are anchored by the use of straps tightened between 'D' rings attached at the backstop side of the shelves and 'D' rings on plugs inserted into the hollow cores of the rolls.

A method for providing a product which has a simulated embossed effect wherein a first wear layer is applied in a pattern and a second wear layer is deposited over the total surface that receives the first wear layer so that some areas of the surface have two wear layers and other areas of the surface have one wear layer to produce an embossed impression.

Disclosed is an apparatus for applying coating material to work pieces in register with a physical characteristic thereof as they are being moved through the apparatus. The apparatus includes an applicator roll, work moving means, and an overrunning clutch, all pre-set to operate in phase with each other when driven by a first drive through the clutch. When the first drive is inoperative, a second drive through the clutch continues rotation of the applicator roll through a supply of coating material. Subsequent reactivation of the first drive means moves the applicator roll in phase with the work moving means and the second drive stops.

Disclosed is a scupper or a drain device comprising an open-ended pipe adapted to be mounted through a wall at floor level and having a water-soluble substantially non-hygroscopic sealing film mounted and frictionally held in place adjacent the inlet opening of a pipe by a retaining ring.
