An apparatus for providing fire protection of curtain wall anchors mounted on the undersides of the building floors including a fire protective housing surrounding the anchor and attached to the floor for enhancing protection from exposure to fire as well as flames and heat. The apparatus can include a housing defining a containment chamber with a upper opening formed of molded mineral wool with an intumescent paper insert positioned therewithin, and a wire frame backing and a molded plastic cover extending therearound. The apparatus is attachable to a floor underside with the protective chamber thereof surrounding a curtain wall anchor assembly attached to the floor underside for fire protection thereof.

Curtain wall anchor fire protection apparatus

A sealing gasket for use attached preferably to the topmost edge of gypsum board when used as construction wallboard. The gasket includes a support leg section capable of being mounted in engagement with preferably the uppermost edge of the gypsum board. The gasket includes a sealing leg extending outwardly from said leg section which includes an intumescent component to facilitate sealing between the edge of the gypsum board and the wall structure above. In one embodiment the sealing leg includes an intumescent impregnated paper material covered with a structurally enhancing layer. An adhesive layer can be included to attach the gasket to the gypsum wallboard. The sealing leg in this embodiment has an 'A' or 'P' profile and will extend upwardly and inwardly over the upper edge of the gypsum board at an obtuse angle with respect to the support leg for sealing thereabove in the head-of-wall area.

Firestopping sealing means for use with gypsum wallboard in head-of-wall construction

A relatively inexpensive bushing easily installed extending through walls, particularly, gypsum board membrane walls for providing firestopping around a limited number of linear penetrating members such as cables or wires. This grommet construction includes first and second half sections for facilitating attachment around cables more easily. A split internal seal preferably of resilient foam material is positioned within a split mechanical shell which facilitates placing of the bushing around penetrating members prior to placement thereof through walls or after positioned thereof penetrating through a panel such as wallboard. A split mechanical shell with a two-piece foam insert retained within a bore extending therethrough can be formed as two separable half cylindrical shells. Barbs are included on the outer portion of the shell to facilitate mounting thereof. The foam firestopping seal portion can be intumescent.

Firestopping bushing

An intumescent firestopping apparatus used in poke-through applications for selectively sealing an opening through a construction barrier such as a wall, floor or ceiling having cables or other penetrating members extending therethrough. The apparatus effectively seals this barrier responsive to a fire to prevent unwanted transmission of fire through conventional construction barrier areas. The apparatus includes a sleeve with two intumescent pads positioned therein. At least one of the pads has an arcuate curved central section to be biased against the other intumescent pad to define therebetween a confinement area for holding of cables centrally located therein in a dynamically adjustable scaling throat defined therebetween. These pads can be variously mounted with respect to the adjacent wall structures and one or both of the pads can be arched toward the other pad to facilitate defining of the dynamic throat for receiving cables extending therethrough.

Intumescent firestopping apparatus

A sealing gasket for use attached to the topmost edge of gypsum board used as construction wallboard. The gasket includes a support leg section capable of being mounted in engagement with the uppermost edge of the gypsum board. The gasket includes a sealing leg extending outwardly from said leg section which includes an intumescent component to facilitate sealing between the edge of the gypsum board and the wall structure above. The sealing leg preferably includes an intumescent impregnated paper material covered with a structurally enhancing layer. An adhesive layer can be included to attach the gasket to the gypsum wallboard. The sealing leg is preferably planar and extends upwardly and inwardly over the upper edge of the gypsum board at an obtuse angle with respect to the support leg for sealing the head-of-wall area thereabove.

An intumescent firestopping apparatus used in poke-through applications for selectively sealing an opening through a construction barrier such as a wall, floor or ceiling having cables or other penetrating members extending therethrough. The apparatus effectively seals this barrier responsive to a fire to prevent unwanted transmission of fire through conventional construction barrier areas. The apparatus includes a sleeve with two intumescent pads positioned therein. At least one of the pads has an arcuate curved central section to be biased against the other intumescent pad to define therebetween a confinement area for holding of cables centrally located therein in a dynamically adjustable sealing throat defined therebetween. These pads can be variously mounted with respect to the adjacent wall structures and one or both of the pads can be arched toward the other pad to facilitate defining of the dynamic throat for receiving cables extending therethrough.

Firestopping bushing made from two separate identical parts

An angular flange for reinforcing and firestopping in the annulus between a structural panel such as a wall, ceiling or floor and a duct extending therethrough. The prefabricated angular flange includes a first flange leg to be secured to the duct and a second flange leg with a sealing member preferably of flexibly resilient foam which could be intumescent attached to a surface of the second leg such that when the first flange leg is secured to the duct the second flange leg can be urged against the structural panel extending therearound with the sealing member positioned between the structural panel and the second flange leg and sealing the annulus.

Apparatus for reinforcing and firestopping around a duct extending through a structural panel

A firestopping device which is held between the flange of water closet flange assembly and the floor surrounding the opening containing the drain pipe which includes a securement section positioned therebetween for being held in place and an intumescent section extending radially inwardly therefrom to a position above the vertical drain pipe opening to facilitate intumescent expansion thereinto responsive to the exposure of heat.

Method and apparatus for firestopping around a water closet drain pipe in a vertical floor opening

An angular flange for reinforcing and firestopping in the annulus between a structural panel such as a wall, ceiling or floor and a duct extending therethrough. The prefabricated angular flange includes a primary angular flange leg to be secured to the duct and a secondary angular flange leg approximately perpendicularly oriented relative thereto. Each flange includes a sealing member of flexible intumescent paper positionable therealong to facilitate firestopping therebetween. The sealing member preferably including two panels at an obtuse angle with respect to one another and being flexible to become approximately perpendicular with respect to one another responsive to securement of the angular flange to the duct and the surrounding structural panel. One or more uniquely designed corner brackets can be included for mounting the adjacently positioned angular flanges with respect to one another selectively.

Apparatus for enhancing reinforcing and firestopping around a duct extending through a structural panel

A collar positionable about a panel penetrating member for sealing therearound and particularly for firestopping therearound which prevents the flow of smoke and may include an intumescent component for expansion during exposure to heat. A collar assembly is usable with members penetrating various types of panels including walls, ceilings and floors. The sealing member of the assembly includes frangible zones with removable sections which are mated to the construction of the mounting strap. The mounting strap includes engagement prongs and multiple engagement apertures securable with respect to one another in various relative positions for use with respect to panel penetrating members of various standardized sizes. The engagement of the prongs in various apertures is mated with the frangible zones on the sealing member for effective sealing around panel penetrating members of standardized sizes such as 3 inch, 3&#xbd; inch, 4 inch and 4&#xbd; inch and others.

Universal firestopping collar assembly

A firestopping apparatus for providing a fire barrier in a construction barrier. The apparatus is comprised of a sleeve within which there are located intumescent pads that are oriented to form a confinement area therebetween to accommodate various penetrating members such as cables, conduits and the like that need to pass through the barrier. Upon sensing the heat from a fire, the intumescent pads seal around the penetrating members to prevent the fire from passing through the barrier. One or both of the intumescent pads is movable toward or away from the other so that the confinement area can be adjusted in size, that is, the confinement area can be increased in size to accommodate a large number of penetrating members of decreased to accommodate a lesser number. One or both of the intumescent pads may be biased in the direction toward decreasing the size of the confinement area.

Intumescent firestopping apparatus and method

A multi-part mounting assembly for securing a plurality of individual pathway conduits relative to one another extending through a wall panel between adjacently positioned wall studs including two support members extending parallel to one another and defining therebetween a pathway conduit zone for receiving the individual conduits along with end members for providing sealing at the outermost edges and one or more partitioning means securable at a plurality of discrete positions within slots defined in the support members and being securable with respect to the support members and including set screws for safely holding pathway conduits in position extending therethrough.

Apparatus for adjustably retaining and sealing pathway conduits mounted extending through a wall panel

A self-adjusting firestopping apparatus for holding of intumescent material within poke-through openings in construction barriers usually being floors but also possibly being walls or ceilings wherein cables or other penetrating members extend therethrough. The self-adjusting apparatus includes a sleeve with the intumescent material centrally located therein and preferably two plates extending along the sleeve and movably attached thereto by a flexibly resilient support device such as a coil spring or flat spring. This plate provides a movable false panel which is adapted to expand responsive to the placement of increasing numbers of penetrating members extending therethrough to increase the capacity of the intumescent firestopping device.

Self-adjusting intumescent firestopping apparatus

A system for sealing a joint gap between structural substrate panels such as walls, ceiling and floors making use of a sealing member including a mounting section fixedly secured to one of the surfaces and a covering member extending outwardly therefrom into contact with the other substrate member. These walls, ceilings and floors can be movable relative to one another and thus the present invention provides a mechanism for sealing the joint gap between the substrates while allowing them to move with respect to one another. This is achieved by fixedly securing the sealing member to one of the substrates and urging it into abutting engagement with respect to the other substrate.
