A differential assembly including a rotatable casing, first and second axially moveable side gears disposed within the casing, at least one pinion gear disposed within the casing and intermeshed with the side gears, a cone clutch operatively coupled to the first side gear, the cone clutch being frictionally coupled to the casing in response to being exposed to a magnetic field, and a disc clutch having at least one clutch disc operatively coupled to the second side gear in response to axial movement of the second side gear.

Electromagnetically-actuated limited slip differential

A dual rotor disc brake utilizing spot or segment type friction pads. The rotors and friction pads are axially movable for contact by adjacent ones thereof and major portions of the rotors rotate free of contact with the friction pads.

Multiple disc brake

A fluid motor moves a lever to turn a power screw mounted for rotation by a pair of axially spaced bushings. External threads on the power screw engage internal threads on an actuator and slide or translate the actuator and a piston in a brake-applying direction. A spring moves the piston in the opposite direction to a rest position. A cap fits over a medial flange of the power screw and has a spline connection with the actuator to prevent rotation of the actuator. Four bolts connect the fluid motor mounting bracket and the cap to a caliper which slides on parallel pins fixed to a torque plate secured to a vehicle axle.

Disc brake actuator

The invention relates to a friction pad for a disc brake and a disc brake assembly in which the friction pads are slidably supported by tabs extending radially outward of the friction pad backing plates on spaced, axially extending, radially converging edges of an aperture provided to the disc brake caliper. The friction pad includes an abutment surface adjacent each edge of the tab to locate the friction pad relative to an inner surface of the caliper.
