System and method relates to a firewater monitor brake system, comprising a vertical locking disc collar adapted to be affixed externally or internally to a horizontal swivel of a firewater monitor system; a horizontal locking disc collar adapted to be affixed externally or internally to a vertical swivel of the firewater monitor system; a vertical brake mount adapted to be affixed to a horizontal swivel mounting pad of the firewater monitor system; a horizontal brake mount adapted to be affixed to a vertical swivel mounting pad of the firewater monitor system; a vertical brake system; wherein the vertical brake system is affixed to the vertical brake mount such that a portion of the vertical brake system is disposed around a portion of the vertical locking disc collar; a horizontal brake system, wherein the horizontal brake system is affixed to the horizontal brake mount such that a portion of the horizontal brake system is disposed around a portion of the horizontal locking disc collar; and a master cylinder adapted to be affixed to a tiller bar of the firewater monitor system, wherein the master cylinder is connected to and/or coupled to a lever system and wherein the master cylinder is connected to and or coupled to the vertical brake system and/or the horizontal brake system via an actuation system. Methods for making and using the system are also disclosed.

Firewater monitor brake system and method

An overhead door interlock device provides an electrical signal indication of the locked or unlocked status of an overhead door, and interfaces with control circuitry of the door's opener to allow or disallow operation of the door based on the locked or unlocked status. In one embodiment, a lever is pivotably attached to the doors track, with the lever engaging with a switch mechanism to indicate the locked or unlocked status of the door. A spring mechanism automatically returns the lever to an unlocked position when the door's lock bar is retracted, with the lever mechanically inhibiting locking of the door until the lever is moved by a user.

Overhead door interlock device

A Link Stacking Actuator is a scalable device that will contract or expand upon the application of rotational force. This rotational force is converted into linear force in contraction and this contraction can be released for expansion. Contraction and expansion are determined by the relative direction of rotational force applied. The device only generates linear force when contracting. Expansion is simply a relaxation of the device. The conversion of rotational force to contraction is achieved by mechanical stacking of interconnected links that fold or stack into a structure when rotational torsion is applied from a motor against a fixed mount-point or another counter-rotating motor. When used in oppositional pairs, these devices can be used to actuate hinged beams such as robotic arms, legs, and fingers. The device can also be used for direct lift applications when configured in multiple parallel sets.

System and method for conversion of rotational motion into linear actuation by mechanical stacking or unstacking of connected links

An Environmental Navigation Aid is provided, and can be a rechargeable, portable, handheld device that can convert environmental information, such as distance to a target object, into tactile values for presentation to a user's palm or fingers by way of a tactile feedback wheel. The nature of the target object composition can be factored into the behavior of the feedback wheel. The Environmental Navigation Aid can be paired with a wireless charging dock that can also serve as a homing beacon when the handheld device is pointed at the changing dock. Stand-alone homing beacons for additional orientation referencing tasks can be added to an Environmental Navigation Aid as a system. The Environmental Navigation Aid is designed to assist the blind in perception of the world around them.

The genetically altered embryonic stem and progenitor cells may be maintained in-vitro as a stable cell line; and transplanted as active, mitotic cells to an infarcted area of the myocardial using any surgical procedure. After transplantation at a chosen anatomic site within the heart of the subject, these genetically altered cells will differentiate in-site, cause a regeneration of myocardocytes, and will effect a marked improvement in cardiac function for the subject.
