A silver halide light sensitive motion picture photographic print element is disclosed comprising a support bearing on one side thereof: a primarily yellow dye image-forming unit comprising at least one blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith primary yellow dye-forming coupler and secondary cyan and magenta dye-forming couplers; a primarily cyan dye image-forming unit comprising at least one red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith an effectively primary amount of cyan dye-forming coupler and effectively secondary amounts of magenta and yellow dye-forming couplers; and a primarily magenta dye image-forming unit comprising at least one green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith an effectively primary amount of magenta dye-forming coupler and effectively secondary amounts of cyan and yellow dye-forming couplers; wherein the primary and secondary dye-forming couplers in each of the dye image-forming units are present in amounts effective to obtain a ratio of Equivalent Neutral Density for the dyes formed from each of the primary dye-forming couplers to each of the secondary dye-forming couplers in each dye-image forming unit of from 20:1 to 3:2 in the print film upon exposure and processing in the standard ECP-2B motion picture color print process, such ratios measured at an exposure resulting in an Equivalent Neutral Density of 1.0 for the primary image dye color of the respective unit. Color print film silver halide photographic elements with mixed color dye image-forming couplers in each of the dye image-forming units thereof enable the production of projected images having desired black densities and colored images having desired degrees of color saturation.

Color motion picture print film with desaturated color space

A silver halide light sensitive motion picture photographic color print element is disclosed comprising a support bearing on one side thereof: a primary blue sensitive and secondary green and red sensitive yellow dye image-forming unit comprising at least one light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith yellow dye-forming coupler; a primary red sensitive and secondary green and blue sensitive cyan dye image-forming unit comprising at least one light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith cyan dye-forming coupler; and a primary green sensitive and secondary blue and red sensitive magenta dye image-forming unit comprising at least one light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith magenta dye-forming coupler; wherein the primary and secondary light sensitivities in each of the dye image-forming units result in ratios of the primary color linear sensitivity of the unit to the same color secondary linear sensitivity of each of the other dye image-forming units of from 30:1 to 3:2. Color print film silver halide photographic elements with crossed blue, green and red sensitization in each of the yellow, magenta and cyan dye image-forming units thereof enable the production of projected images having desired black densities and colored images having desired degrees of color saturation.

One embodiment of the invention comprises a silver halide light sensitive photographic print element comprising a support bearing on one side thereof: a blue color sensitive record comprising at least one blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion yellow-image forming layer, a red color sensitive record comprising at least one red-sensitive silver halide emulsion cyan-image forming layer, and a green color sensitive record comprising at least one green-sensitive silver halide emulsion magenta-image forming layer; wherein the overall contrast (OC) of the green record is greater than 1.9, and the mid-scale contrast (MSC) of the green record is about 3.2 or more, wherein the parameters OC and MSC are as defined herein. A further embodiment of the invention comprises a process of forming an image in a motion picture silver halide light sensitive color photographic print element comprising: (a) digitally exposing a photographic light sensitive element according to digital image data using a digital film recording device to form a color negative film record, and printing the negative film record on the silver halide light sensitive photographic print element to form an exposed print element, or (b) directly exposing the silver halide light sensitive photographic print element according to digital image data with a digital film recording device; and processing the exposed photographic print element resulting from (a) or (b) to form a developed image; wherein the overall contrast (OC) of the green record of the print element is greater than 1.9. Preferably, the elements of the invention and the elements used in the process ol the invention have corresponding red and blue OC values which are at least 90% of the green values, and MSC values within .+-.10% of the green values, enabling the production of outstanding projected images having black densities and with digital assistance, optimal mid-scale contrasts which together cannot be easily obtained with traditionally designed color print films.

Color motion picture print film for use with digital output

A silver halide light sensitive photographic print element is disclosed comprising a support bearing on one side thereof: a blue color sensitive record comprising at least one blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion yellow-image forming layer, a red color sensitive record comprising at least one red-sensitive silver halide emulsion cyan-image forming layer, and a green color sensitive record comprising at least one green-sensitive silver halide emulsion magenta-image forming layer; wherein the overall contrast (OC) of the green record is greater than 1.9, the mid-scale contrast (MSC) of the green record is less than 3.2, and the upper-scale contrast (USC) of the green record is greater than 3.2, wherein the parameters OC, MSC and USC are as defined herein. A process of forming an image in a motion picture silver halide light sensitive photographic print element as described above comprises exposing the silver halide light sensitive photographic print element to a color negative film record, and processing the exposed photographic print element to form a developed image having maximum green Equivalent Neutral Densities of at least 3.8. In accordance with preferred embodiments, the elements are exposed and processed to form images with red and blue maximum Equivalent Neutral Densities which are also at least 3.8. Preferably, the elements of the invention and the elements used in the process of the invention have corresponding red and blue OC and USC values which are at least 90% of the green values, and MSC values within .+-.10% of the green values, enabling the production of outstanding projected images having high black densities and optimal mid-scale contrasts.

Color motion picture print film

A multilayer silver halide color photographic element comprising a support bearing a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and a non-diffusible yellow-colored magenta dye-forming masking coupler wherein the masking coupler is a 2'-hydroxy-5'-substituted-4-phenylazo-5-pyrazolone. The masking coupler has good coupling activity and desirable hues, and can be obtained in good yields by simple syntheses.

An improved image display material comprising a light sensitive tabular grain silver chloride emulsion spectrally sensitized to a peak wavelength of less than about 475 nm, and a method of use comprising the step of optically printing a color image onto the improved color photographic display material is provided. A color photographic element having a support bearing at least one radiation sensitive emulsion layer comprising dispersing medium and silver halide grains is disclosed. The emulsion layer is a tabular grain silver halide emulsion layer Wherein at least 50 percent of total grain projected area is accounted for by tabular grains (a) bounded by {100} major faces having adjacent edge ratios of less than 10, (b) each having an aspect ratio of at least 2, and (c) internally at their nucleation site, containing iodide and at least 50 mole percent chloride.
