Thermoplastic compositions are disclosed comprising a thermoplastic resin, a first impact modifier characterized by core-shell morphology and comprising a functional shell polymer, and a second impact modifier comprising a component capable of reaction with a functional shell polymer. In addition, thermoplastic compositions are also disclosed that comprise a thermoplastic resin and a loose agglomerations of particles that have open spaces, at least 50% of the loose agglomerations comprise open spaces that measure 31 to 60% by area of the loose agglomeration, and particles that are characterized by core-shell morphology. The inventive compositions demonstrate low gloss, high impact strength, good weatherability, and good flow properties.

The present invention provides a transparent thermoplastic molding composition made from a transparent blend of a polycarbonate resin with a polyester resin, 0.005 to 2 weight percent, based on the weight of the composition, of a perfluoroalkylsulfonic acid salt of the formula (I): (RA&#x2014;SO)X(I), wherein R denotes perfluorinated linear or branched carbon chain having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, A denotes a direct bond or an aromatic nucleus, n denotes an integer of 1 or 2, and X denotes a metal element selected from the first or the second column in the Periodic Table of the Elements, and 0 to 5 weight percent, based on the weight of the composition, of a glycerol monostearate. The inventive composition has a total transmittance according to ASTM D-1003 of greater than 84% and an electric resistivity according to ASTM D-257 of less than about 2.5E+06 ohm-m.

The present invention relates to flame-retardant polycarbonate compositions and methods for increasing the flame-retardancy of polycarbonate compositions. An &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-alkoxy phenyl phenyloligosiloxane compound and an alkali metal sulfonate salt are added to the polycarbonate compositions. The addition of the &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-alkoxy phenyl phenyloligosiloxane compound and the alkali metal sulfonate salt produces a polycarbonate composition having a flame-retardance rating of UL 94V-0 at 2 mm thickness or less.

Flame-retardant polycarbonate compositions

A thermoplastic molding composition characterized by its flame retardance and impact strength is disclosed. The composition contains A) 70 to 99 parts by weight of aromatic poly(ester) carbonate B) 1 to 30 parts by weight of polyalkylene terephthalate, the total weight of A) and B) being 100 parts resin, and C) 1 to 20 parts per hundred parts resin (phr) of graft (co)polymer having a core-shell morphology, including a grafted shell that contains polymerized alkyl(meth)acrylate and a composite rubber core that contains interpenetrated and inseparable polyorganosiloxane and poly(meth)alkyl acrylate components, D) 2 to 20 phr of a phosphorous-containing compound, and E) 0.1 to 2 part by weight of fluorinated polyolefin.

Impact resistant, flame retardant thermoplastic molding composition

The present invention provides a flow-through photobioreactor containing at least one thermoplastic multi-wall sheet having an upper layer and a lower layer having arranged there between at least two sidewalls, at least one inner wall and two or more end caps. A transparent antimicrobial thermoplastic molding composition is disclosed. The composition contains aromatic polycarbonate resin and 0.01 to 3.8 of an antimicrobial compound conforming to formula (I)AgMM(PO)&#x2003;&#x2003;(I)wherein Mis at least one ion selected from the group consisting of alkali metal ion, alkaline earth metal ion, ammonium ion and hydrogen ion, Ma tetravalent metal selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr and Sn, and where a and b are positive numbers where a+mb=1 where m is a valence of M, the percent being relative to the weight of the polycarbonate. The composition is suitable for molding articles having good appearance and surface qualities.

Transparent thermoplastic antimicrobial molding composition

A thermoplastic molding composition containing polycarbonate, polyalkylene terephthalate and an elastomeric impact modifier is disclosed. The impact modifier that exhibits pH value of less than 7 and contains less than 500 ppm of sodium ions, is characterized in its core/shell morphology, where the core contains polymerized butadiene structural units and shell contains polymerized methacrylate structural units. The core is present in an amount of 40 to 70 percent relative to the weight of the impact modifier, and the glass transition temperature of the shell is greater than 23&#xb0; C. The composition is characterized in its improved surface quality and toughness at low temperatures.
