A deposition module within a web press for inhibiting media deformation may include a fluid deposition device located on a side of a media, and a processing device to control the fluid deposition device to selectively apply a wetting agent to the media. The deposition of the wetting agent may be based on the location of content printed on the media as defined by print data.

Inhibiting media deformation

In an example, an apparatus is described that includes a first print section, a second print section, a dryer, and a printing path. The first print section includes a first fluid ejection array, while the second print section includes a second fluid ejection array. The dryer is positioned adjacent to the first print section and the second print section. The printing path that travels in a first direction through the dryer after exiting the first print section and travels in a second direction through the dryer after exiting the second print section.

A drying apparatus usable with a printing system includes a housing, a first set of radiative heating elements, a second set of radiative heating elements, and an air handling device. The housing includes a front region and a rear region adjacent to the front region. The front region includes an inlet to receive media. The rear region includes an outlet to pass media there through. The first set of radiative heating elements is disposed within the front region to heat the media. The second set of radiative heating elements is disposed within the rear region to heat the media. The air handling device is disposed across from the second set of radiative heating elements to jet air within the rear region to cool the media prior to the media being passed through the outlet.

Provided in one example is a method. The method includes generating, using a processor, data of a negative of an image to be printed on a print medium. The method includes determining, using the processor, a moisture profile of a print job, which print job includes the image and the negative, using data of the image and the data of the negative. The method includes generating, using the processor, printing instructions of the print job using at least the determined moisture profile. The method includes printing the print job on the print medium using at least the printing instructions.

In one example, an inkjet web printer includes: an arched printing unit and an aerosol control system. The printing unit has a series of printheads arranged along an arc and multiple rollers to support a print substrate web along the arc through a print zone adjacent to each printhead. The aerosol control system has a vacuum duct through which air may be sucked away from the web leaving a print zone adjacent to one of the printheads and a pressure duct through which air may be blown on to the web leaving the print zone. The pressure duct is positioned downstream from the vacuum duct and configured to blow air diagonally upstream directly on to the web at the same location the vacuum duct is to suck air away from the web.

Aerosol control in a printer

In an example implementation, a processor-readable medium stores code representing instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to initiate motion of a media web in an inkjet web press, begin printing a print frame based on a start pulse from a metering device, verify that printing the print frame is complete, receive a signal from the metering device that a frame-length of the media web has been measured at the output of the press, and begin printing a new print frame based on the verification and the signal.

In one example, an aerosol control system for a printer includes an air knife to discharge a sheet of air into a flow of aerosol along a moving print substrate web and a vacuum near the air knife to suck up aerosol from the flow simultaneously with the air knife discharging air into the flow.

A fluid ejection device includes a substrate having a first side and a second side opposite the first side, and a plurality of drop ejecting elements formed on the first side of the substrate. The substrate includes a first opening formed in the first side and a plurality of second openings formed in the second side with each of the second openings communicating with the first opening, wherein the second openings and the first opening are adapted to circulate fluid through the substrate.

The described embodiments relate to a print cartridge that can be configured to receive ink from one of at least two possible ink paths depending upon a desired printer configuration. In one exemplary embodiment, the print cartridge has a body configurable to receive ink from at least two different ink supply configurations, and a fluid interface that when coupled with the body effectively selects one of the ink supply configurations.

Methods and systems for a configurable print cartridge

An over-molded gland seal for producing both a fluidic seal and a fluid conduit. The apparatus includes a substrate having an elastomeric layer over-molded thereon and an elastomeric gland seal molded into the over-molded layer. Another aspect of the apparatus includes a host-part having a raised wall thereon, said host-part receives the elastomeric gland seal and compresses the gland seal with the raised wall. The substrate, the gland seal, and the host-part define an enclosed region. To form the fluid conduit, the apparatus includes a fluid inlet port and a fluid outlet port that communicate with the enclosed region.

Over-molded gland seal

Apparatus for providing ink to an ink jet print head. The apparatus includes a back pressure regulator for receiving ink from an ink reservoir and for delivering ink to the print head. The regulator has a compliant wall that responds to atmospheric pressure on one side and to the pressure of the ink in the regulator on the another side. Within the regulator is a valve that regulates the pressure of the ink delivered to the print head and is actuated by the wall. Also within the regulator is a compression spring that simultaneously pre-loads the valve shut and urges the compliant wall against the atmospheric pressure. In an other aspect, an apparatus is provided with a print head having two arrays of nozzles and two back pressure regulators that independently deliver inks of different hues to separate arrays of nozzles on the print head. In still a further aspect, the apparatus performs bi-directional ink jet color printing without hue shift through positioning the regulators and print heads with respect to the printer carriage.
