A conveyor assembly comprising a main conveyor having a first side frame and a second side frame, with the first and/or second side frames including a side portion and a support surface. One or more input conveyors having a discharge end are joined to the main conveyor with a bottom portion of the discharge end being positioned on the support surface whereby the input conveyors are accurately mounted in close proximity to the main conveyor to promote the conveyance of items from the input conveyors onto the main conveyor.

An unscrambler conveyor including a frame, a plurality of tapered rollers rotatably supported by the frame for unscrambling packages, and means for driving the rollers. Each of the rollers has a longitudinal axis and a polyurethane body that extends along the longitudinal axis to form a tapered outer surface. The tapered outer surfaces of the rollers define a conveying surface and have variations in concentricity of less than 0.01 inches.

A graphical system configuration program allows material handling systems to easily be defined, configured, and implemented. The system may utilize a computer for configuring an automatic guided vehicle system. Information defining the path layouts for the AGVs, traffic control information, decisional logic for path branches, update marker information, and other information useful for controlling the operation of the automatic guided vehicles may be entered into the computer and displayed graphically. The computer is programmed to automatically verify the validity of the entered information, and to optionally simulate the movement of the automatic guided vehicles. After the information has been validated, it can be converted to a file format that is used by an automatic guided vehicle controller to control the vehicle's movement. Virtually the entire design process for the AGV system can therefore be carried out using a single computer program specifically adapted for that purpose.

An accumulation conveyor of the present invention includes a frame, which comprises spaced apart side frame members, and a plurality of rollers that are rotatably supported between the side frame members. The conveyor includes a stop member and an actuator that selectively moves the stop member between an extended position wherein at least a portion of the stop member is extended above the conveying surface for stopping one or more articles conveyed on the conveying surface and a retracted position wherein the stop member is below said conveying surface. The actuator and the stop member are supported and positioned between said side frame members when the stop member is moved between its retracted position whereby the stop member and the actuator comprise a low-profile stop assembly.

An upstanding operating shank including front and rear sides is provided for use in a substantially upright position. The lower end of the shank includes a forwardly and downwardly inclined elongated digging blade which projects outwardly of the front side of the shank. The forward end of the blade includes a sharpened transverse cutting edge and the lower end portion of the shank further includes a rearwardly and outwardly projecting abutment for applying forward foot thrust to the lower end of the shank. An elongated spring-type weed clamping keeper blade is spaced slightly above and generally parallels the digging blade, and the end of the keeper blade adjacent the shank is rigidly supported therefrom while the end of the keeper blade remote in the shank includes an upwardly directed skid portion. In utilizing the weeding tool, the shank is held in a upright position and forward foot pressure is applied to the rearwardly projecting abutment with the cutting blade directed forwardly and downwardly so as to force the forward cutting edge of the blade downwardly into the ground at an angle between 15.degree. and 45.degree. relative to the surface of the ground. As the cutting blade is forced downwardly beneath a weed, the lower root portion of the weed is cut therefrom, the ground through which the upper portion of the weed has been growing is loosened and the upper foliage portion of the weed is clamped between the cutting blade and the weed clamping keeper blade whereby a rearward thrust on the upper end of the shank of the tool will cause the weed and the adjacent soil to be pried out of the ground while the upper portion of the weed is maintained clamped between the cutting blade and the keeper blade.
