A driveway truck restraint blocks the path of travel of an ICC bar at the back of a truck on a driveway at a loading dock to prevent forward travel of the truck away from the loading dock. The restraint is removably anchored to the driveway in non-cast-in relation without concrete around an encasing column depending downwardly through the driveway into the subgrade. A low profile is provided both above and below grade. A water dam is provide around a cable opening. Simplified, economical installation is provided.

Driveway truck restraint

A driveway truck restraining apparatus including a sealed casing embedded partially in the ground, a ram mounted in the casing for movement between a storage position and an operative position blocking the travel of the ICC bar located on the back of a truck, a pneumatic piston and cylinder assembly mounted on the loading dock and being operatively connected to the ram, and an indoor signal assembly mounted on the inside of the loading dock and an outdoor signal assembly mounted on the outside of the loading dock, the signal assemblies being electrically connected to the piston and cylinder assembly to provide control signals indicating the position of the ram and the absence or presence of a truck at the loading dock.

Driveway truck restraining apparatus

A ground level truck restraint assembly, including a casing adapted to be buried in a driveway in front of a loading dock, a restraining member mounted in the casing for movement between a storage position in the casing to an operative position projecting upwardly from the casing into the path of motion of the ICC bar on a truck and a housing having a slide mounted on the dock a cable having one end connected to the restraining member and the other end connected to the slide in the housing for moving the restraining member to the operative position when a truck is located at the dock.

A dockboard comprising a ramp assembly, a frame for supporting the ramp assembly for pivotal movement in a pit formed in a loading dock, a hydraulic piston-cylinder assembly mounted on the bottom of the pit in the loading dock for pivoting the ramp assembly with respect to the supporting means, a lip assembly pivotally mounted on the free end of the ramp assembly, a hydraulic piston-cylinder assembly mounted on the ramp assembly for pivoting the lip assembly to an extended position forming a continuation of said ramp assembly, the ramp assembly including a tread plate and a plurality of hinge plates mounted in a parallel spaced relation on the tread plate, each hinge plate including an ear, and a stop bar mounted on the end of the ramp assembly in the path of travel of the ears for limiting the pivotal movement of the lip assembly.

Dockboards

An independent dockboard of the type adapted to be mounted in a pit in a loading dock, the dockboard including a main frame, a ramp pivotally mounted on the frame and including a tread plate assembly mounted for telescopic movement into and out of the ramp, the tread plate assembly including a tread plate mounted on a frame with a number of wheels for supporting the assembly for movement on the ramp, the tread plate assembly being pivoted about the axis of the wheels, a lift frame pivotally mounted on the main frame and operatively positioned to engage the ramp, a hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly operatively engaging the left frame and a second hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly operatively connected to move the tread plate assembly into and out of the ramp, and an over center toggle link assembly to lock the tread plate against the ramp.

A restraining device or 'keeper' for locking a truck having an ICC bar to a dock, the device including an arm pivotally secured to the front of the dock for movement between a storage position against the front of the dock and an operative position extending outward from the dock, a restraining bar mounted for vertical movement relative to the swing arm to a position to block the path of motion of the ICC bar away from the dock, and a latch assembly for locking the swing arm in the operative and inoperative positions.
