An aquaculture pen includes an annular floatation assembly formed from a plurality of float platforms connected end to end. A weight ring is suspended from the floatation assembly by a first plurality of tension members at a central portion of the float platforms. A net support ring is suspended from the floatation assembly by a second plurality of tension members that are attached to the floatation assembly, for example, outboard of the first plurality of tension members. A mesh enclosure for the pen includes a main portion attached to the net support ring, a jump net portion that extends from the net support ring to engage the inboard side of the floatation assembly, and a top portion that closes an upper end of the mesh enclosure.

An ice anchoring system includes a tether that is elongated and has a first end and a second end. An anchor is attached to the second end of the tether. The anchor has length dimension extending from a first lateral edge to a second lateral edge and a width dimension extending from a front side to a rear side. The length dimension is elongated with respect to the width dimension. The tether is secured to the anchor such that a longitudinal axis of the anchor extending through the first and second lateral edges forms an angle with a horizontal plane between 0° and 45° when the anchor is hung freely from the tether.

Ice anchoring system and method

A slidable handle grip assembly includes a tubular member that has a first end, a second end, and a perimeter wall extending between the first and second ends. The first and second ends are open. The tubular member is positioned on an elongated shaft of a tool such that the tubular member can slidably move from a grip end to a head end of the tool. An outer surface of the perimeter wall defines a supplemental handhold for the shaft.

A waffle maker has upper and lower baking plates each of which is powered with at lease one heating element for baking waffle. A power control unit responds to a temperature sensing unit to control power applied to the heaters and to maintain the heating plates both before and after each baking cycle at a manually pre-selected temperature. A manually adjustable timer controls the duration of the baking cycle.

An explosive device detection system includes sensors and base station that detect and report on suspected improvised explosive device (IED) emplacement activity within the area. When disposed within a geographic area, each sensor forms part of a wireless communications network which allows communication among neighboring sensors. As a sensor detects activity in its proximity, such as activity that indicates emplacement of an IED, the sensor transmits a reporting signal through the network to the base station. The base station is operable to detect if the signals received from the sensors are indicative of IED emplacement activity or some other activity that is not typically associated with IED emplacement activity. In the event that the base station detects activity that is indicative of IED emplacement activity, the base station can direct mobile response units to take immediate responsive action to prevent detonation of the IEDs or apprehend the perpetrators in the act.

Base station and method for detecting emplacement of improvised explosive devices

A vessel for preparing heated water or other liquid includes a container, an electric heater and a temperature sensing probe mounted through a wall of the container. The probe includes an efficient heat transferring structure in direct thermal contact with and wet by the liquid. An electrical sensor within the probe is in intimate thermal contact with the transferring structure and has electrical properties directly correlating with the temperature of the transferring structure. The transferring structure is attached to a supporting structure mounted to the wall by an elastomeric efficient thermal insulating material held in compression providing physical support for the probe and sealing the wall from leaking and insuring that the sensor is primarily thermally responsive to the temperature of the transferring surface and to the liquid but is thermally insulated from variations in the temperature of the supporting wall.

Accurate temperature measurement in household kettles

A semi-trailer or other cargo vehicle enclosure includes a rearward end portion extending between opposite left and right sidewalls. The sidewalls include vertically extending rearward corner portions that define air passageways for directing rearwardly flowing air from alongside the sidewalls toward a region of low pressure behind the rearward end portion of the enclosure. Preferably, the rearward corner portions include vertically extending rearward corner posts and deflector components that are formed to cooperatively define circularly shaped passageways for gradual air-flow redirection, with the sidewall exterior surfaces and the deflector exterior surfaces being within prescribed maximum semi-trailer widths while the interior corner post spacing does not reduce the usual width of semi-trailer cargo space. Offset door hinges are included that enable rear doors to open fully to positions parallel to the exterior surfaces of the enclosure sidewalls despite the left and right air-deflecting structures that extend sideways beyond the left and right sidewalls.

An explosive device detection system includes sensors and base station that detect and report on suspected Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) or landmine emplacement activity within a geographic area. When disposed within a geographic area, each sensor forms part of a wireless communications network which allows communication among neighboring sensors. As a sensor detects activity in its proximity, such as activity that indicates emplacement of an IED, the sensor transmits a reporting signal through the network to the base station. The neighboring sensors receive and transmit the reporting signal in a sequential manner toward the base station. Because the reporting signal takes multiple hops toward the base station, the sensors do not require large amounts of power to transmit the signal. Furthermore, the detection system allows detection of IED emplacement within the geographic area as the activity occurs. As a result, the base station can direct mobile response units to take immediate responsive action to prevent detonation of the IED's.

System and method for detecting emplacement of improvised explosive devices

A beverage dispensing system and method for dispensing a beverage comprising water from a water source. Some embodiments of the beverage system can include a housing, an inlet adapted to be coupled to the water source, a concentrate source containing concentrate, a dispensing outlet, a fluid line, and a valve. The dispensing outlet can dispense at least one of water and the concentrate. The fluid line can fluidly couple the water source and the dispensing outlet. The valve can be positioned to supply any desired amount of concentrate in a range of concentrate amounts from the concentrate source to the fluid line. The range of concentrate amounts can correspond to a range of water amounts flowing through the fluid line to produce a corresponding range of beverage amounts dispensed from the dispensing outlet.

An electrically heated water kettle comprises a vessel for holding a liquid for extraction of tea, coffee or other food material. The vessel includes a partially open immersible container sized to allow the passage of water between the walls of the vessel. The container is capable of holding the material while an opening in the container allows the entrance of water into the container upon immersion of the container in the water. The heated kettle incorporates structure to hold the container out of the water until the water reaches an appropriate extraction temperature and to immerse or withdraw the container into or from the water as is necessary to accomplish the extraction.

A semi-trailer or other cargo vehicle enclosure includes a rearward end portion extending between opposite left and right sidewalls. Preferably, the rearward corner portions include vertically extending rearward corner posts and deflector components that are formed to cooperatively define circularly shaped passageways for gradual air-flow redirection, with the sidewall exterior surfaces and the deflector exterior surfaces being within prescribed maximum semi-trailer widths while the interior corner post spacing does not reduce the usual width of semi-trailer cargo space. Bi-folding doors open to wide-open positions that clear the deflectors.

The invention relates to an integrated belowground vault with filter catch basin, that allows the runoff water to enter into a belowground two-part vault passing through a commercially available replaceable filter before being transferred out to the sewer, Rood control system or out through a French drain consisting of a cavity below the device that is filled with drain gravel. A layer of filter cloth can optionally be placed over the drain gravel. This device will be manufactured in variety of sizes and shapes and made from several different materials. The device has the unique ability of being capable of filtering low flow water runoff while allowing high volume to pass through with the added benefit of not retaining water that can become a mosquito breeding ground.
