A hydrogen sorbent composition is provided which is comprised of a hydridable material such as LaNi.sub.5 encradled throughout a porous, fiber-containing polymeric composition.

Hydrogen sorbent composition

An improvement in the production of polymer-bonded cell electrodes comprises forming a particulate material which can be developed into a shaped polymeric system comprising an electrode active material encradled in a porous, fiber-containing, polymeric composition. In a preferred embodiment, the polymeric system is developed as a thin, flexible electrode.

Production of a cell electrode system

A process is provided for forming a polymeric material which can be developed into a shaped polymeric structure comprising an active material encradled in a porous, fiber-containing polymeric composition. In the process, the active material is mixed with a tripartite system comprising a fibrillatable polymer, a support-contributing polymer and a pore-former. When such a system is mixed and developed with an active material, such as LaNi.sub.5, an active composition is produced which may be used, for example, as a hydrogen collecting or storing material.

An improvement in the production of a cell electrode system comprises a process in which a fibrillatable polymer, an electrode active material and a removable, polymeric pore-former are subjected to conditions to convert the polymer by a dry process technique to fibrous form and to form a composition comprising discrete fibers through an intimate mixture consisting essentially of electrode active particles, and pore-former, said pore-former also serving as a processing agent and being present in a major amount, and then removing the pore-former from such composition.

A fragrant ornament, such as a jewelry piece, is disclosed which consists of a mixture of a major amount of a natural botanical plant material, essential oils, and a minor amount of a fluorocarbon resin binder. A method for formulating and molding the ornament is also disclosed.

A polymeric electroforming mandrel having a metal base, eg. a layer of expanded sheet steel, and a polymeric layer surrounding such base, the layer having inserts of electroconductive polymer interspersed in a continuous area of non-conductive polymer and the layer comprising welded or otherwise hermetically joined units lying in the same plane.

A process for preparing a polymeric material grafted throughout its bulk is provided. A polymer having finely divided particles is blended with silica and maintained in a fluidized bed. The polymer is activated by passing ozone uniformly through the blend to initiate incipient labile sites in the molecular structure of the polymer. The polymer is then reacted with an ethylenically unsaturated ionogenic monomer to graft polymerize the monomer onto the polymer. The grafted polymer may then be converted to a salt form by reacting with alkaline compounds. The resultant powders can be fused into any desired shape by conventional polymer plastic processes.
