According to at least one embodiment, a method for generating a mesh deformation of a facial model includes: generating a first plurality of deformation maps by applying a first plurality of neural network-trained models; extracting a first plurality of vertex offsets based on the first plurality of deformation maps; and applying the first plurality of vertex offsets to a neutral mesh of the facial model to generate the mesh deformation of the facial model.

Fast and deep facial deformations

A method of obtaining a spatially varying bidirectional reflectance distribution function for a flat object can include using a video capture device and a light source to capture a video of an area of interest at a relatively fixed distance over the surface of the object, aligning video frame images from the captured video into a single panorama with observations from multiple light and view locations for a number of pixels, clustering the pixels into clusters by similar appearance, and fitting a bidirectional reflectance distribution function to the clusters to generate a high-resolution spatially varying bidirectional reflectance distribution function.

Methods and systems for acquiring svBRDF measurements

A material testing apparatus comprising a frame having three or more tracks, and a plurality of mounts positioned within the three or more tracks. The mounts including an attachment mechanism to attach the mounts to a material being tested. The mounts including a force measurement elements. An improved system to provide a clothing model in augmented reality and/or virtual reality is disclosed. In one embodiment, the system provides a fully simulated garment, on the user's device, in an augmented reality or virtual reality display. In one embodiment, the process uses a parameterized smart garment model which enables real-time interaction with the garment on a device such as a mobile phone or tablet, with limited memory and processing power. In one embodiment, the system permits nearly instantaneous alteration of garment sizes. Because the garment is modeled to accurately reflect physical details, the lay of the garment changes as the size of the garment or body changes.

Clothing model generation and display system

Systems and methods for automatically animating a character based on an existing corpus of animation are described. The character may be from a previously produced feature animated film, and the data used for training may be the data used to animate the character in the film. A low-dimensional embedding for subsets of the existing animation corresponding to different semantic labels may be learned by mapping high-dimensional rig control parameters to a latent space. A particle model may be used to move within the latent space, thereby generating novel animations corresponding to the space's semantic label, such as a pose. Bridges may link a first pose of a first model within the latent space that is similar to a second pose of a second model of the space. Animations corresponding to transitions between semantic labels may be generated by creating animation paths that traverse a bridge from one model into another.

Repurposing existing animated content

Systems, methods, and computer-readable medium for approximating mesh deformations for character rigs are disclosed. An embodiment includes applying a first deformation function to one or more mesh elements to determine an intermediate position based on a transform to a first structural element, wherein the one or more mesh elements are assigned to the first structural element, generating an offset based on a second deformation function for the one or more mesh elements using a deformation function approximation model, wherein the offset is a positional offset of the one or more mesh elements from the intermediate position to a target position corresponding to the transform applied to the first structural element, and generating a combined mesh deformation for the one or more mesh elements by combining the intermediate position and the offset.
