Methods, systems, and devices provide location-based communication between drivers of different vehicles. A vehicle identifier and contact information associated with one or more motorist computing devices is stored. A contact request from an officer computing device at a location of an event is received. The event may be a traffic stop. The contact request may include the vehicle identifier and location information that identifies the location. A notification that includes the location information is sent to the one or more motorist computing devices. In accordance with the contact request and notification, communication between the officer computing device and a passenger computing device of the one or more motorist computing devices is established.

Systems and methods for contactless, location-based communication

A recording device automatically adjusts a brightness of a display integrated with the recording device. The recording device may be a body-worn camera. The display may comprise one or more light-emitting diodes. The brightness may be adjusted in accordance with an ambient lighting environment in which the recording device is located. The display may be oriented in a direction away from a user on which the recording device is mounted. The brightness may be adjusted for multiple displays integrated with the recording device. The display may be oriented in a different direction in which the ambient lighting environment is detected by an ambient light sensor integrated with the recording device.

Adaptive brightness display for recording device

An evidence ecosystem that includes a capture system that detects physical properties in the environment around the capture system and captures data related to the physical properties. The capture system analyzes the captured data in accordance with patterns to detect characteristics and patterns in the captured data. Upon detecting a characteristic or a pattern, the capture system records the identified data and alignment data that identifies the location of the identified data in the captured data. The capture system sends the captured data, identified data, and alignment data to an evidence management system for use in generating reports and producing redacted copies of the captured data for distribution or presentation.

Identifying and redacting captured data

System and methods for aligning event data recorded by recording devices. Recording devices create, transmit, and store alignment data. Alignment data created by a recording device is stored in the memory of the recording device with a time that is maintained by the recording device and that is relative to the time of event data recorded by the recording device that creates the alignment data. Recording devices further receive and store transmitted alignment data. Alignment data received by a recording device is stored in the memory of the recording device with a time that is maintained by the receiving recording device and that is relative to the time of event data recorded by the recording device that creates alignment data. Stored alignment data may be used to align the playback of event data of devices that have the same alignment data.

Systems and methods for aligning event data

A recording device captures information and stores the information in a data store as a data record. The recording device includes a low-power wireless interface and a high-power wireless interface. A network device includes a low-power wireless interface and a high-power wireless interface. An activation device transmits a data notification and a network notification. Upon receiving the data notification, the network device activates its high-power wireless interface. Upon receiving the network notification, the recording device activates its high-power wireless interface. The recording device transmits the data record to the network device via its high-power wireless interface.

Systems and methods for automatically activating wireless networks

Systems and methods for redacting information from data records are provided. Data records are recorded by recording devices, including, but not limited to, camera recording devices such as those associated with law-enforcement officers. The data records are stored in an evidence management system. In response to requests for records, including but not limited to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, the evidence management system creates redacted versions of the data records. Public access may then be provided to the redacted data records. In some embodiments, automated bulk redaction may be applied to video data records by applying a video filter to the entire visual field of the video information. In some embodiments, access to the redacted data records may be provided via a cloud storage system or via a removable computer-readable storage medium.

Systems and methods for bulk redaction of recorded data

Systems and methods for configuring the operation of recording devices that may be removably mounted to a mount. A mount may provide a unique identifier. The unique identifier may be used to select a configuration profile for configuring the operation of the recording device coupled to the mount. A recording device that is moved from one mount to another may receive a different profile in accordance with the identifier of the new mount to control the operation of the recording device while mounted to the new mount. A server may store, retrieve, and provide profiles to recording devices.

Systems and methods for mounts for recording devices

A recording device, such as a video camera, emits audio watermarks (e.g., audible tones, inaudible tones) and records audio watermarks emitted by other recording devices. The audio watermarks provide information (e.g., data) such as an identifier of the camera and the identity of the operator. Audio watermarks may further include time information such as a timestamp indicating the time that the audio watermark was emitted by the camera. Audio watermarks may be emitted and recorded at intervals while recording an incident. A processing system, such as a digital video and audio processing system, may receive video information and recorded watermarks from multiple recording devices. The processing system may use the audio watermarks recorded by each recording device to determine which recording devices were in the vicinity of an incident. The processing system may also use the audio watermarks to align (e.g., synchronize) the video recorded by the various recording devices. Alignment of recorded video may permit synchronized playback of the recorded video from the various recording devices. Alignment may further identify at what point during an incident a recording device began and terminated recording.

In some embodiments, automatic selective enablement of a wireless interface is provided. In some embodiments, a first device such as a recording device broadcasts a notification via a first wireless interface. The notification may be received by a second device such as a network device, which activates a second wireless interface in response. In some embodiments, the second device may transmit a notification via the first wireless interface to indicate that the second wireless interface has been activated. In response to receiving such a notification, the first device may activate its own second wireless interface in order to complete the connection and transmit a data record to the second device. In some embodiments, the first wireless interface is a low-power wireless interface, and the second wireless interface is a high-power wireless interface.
