A propylene-&#x3b1;-olefin-diene (PEDM) terpolymer may comprise 75 to 95 wt % propylene, 5 to 20 wt % &#x3b1;-olefin, and 0.5 to 5 wt % diene, said wt % based on the weight of the PEDM terpolymer. The propylene-&#x3b1;-olefin-diene terpolymer may be blended with an ethylene-based copolymer and optionally a variety of additives to form an elastomeric composition. An exemplary elastomeric composition includes 5 to 40 parts by weight per hundred parts by weight rubber (phr) of the PEDM terpolymer, 60 to 95 phr of the ethylene-based copolymer, and optionally additives like carbon black, zinc dimethacrylate, paraffinic oil, zinc oxide, and/or zinc stearate.

Elastomeric propylene-alpha-olefin-diene terpolymer compositions

The present invention is related to adhesive compositions comprising about 50 to about 80 wt % of a polymer blend of at least two different propylene-based polymers, wherein the polymer blend has a melt viscosity of about 100 to about 6,000 cP and adhesive compositions comprising about 30 to about 60 wt % of a polymer blend of at least two different propylene-based polymers, wherein the polymer blend has a melt viscosity of about 6,000 cP to about 60,000 cP. When subjected to Temperature Rising Elution Fractionation, the polymer blend exhibits a first fraction that is soluble at &#x2212;15&#xb0; C. in xylene, the first fraction having an isotactic (mm) triad tacticity of about 70 mol % to about 90 mol %; and a second fraction that is insoluble or less soluble than the first fraction at &#x2212;15&#xb0; C. in xylene, the second fraction having an isotactic (mm) triad tacticity of about 85 mol % to about 98 mol %.

High polymer load polyolefin adhesive compositions

The present invention is related to adhesive composition, having a polymer blend comprising a first propylene-based polymer, wherein the first propylene-based polymer is a homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer of propylene and ethylene or a Cto Calpha-olefin, and a second propylene-based polymer, wherein the second propylene-based polymer is a homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer of propylene and ethylene or a Cto Calpha-olefin; wherein the second propylene-based polymer is different than the first propylene-based polymer; wherein the polymer blend has a melt viscosity, measured at 190&#xb0; C. and determined according to ASTM D-3236, of about 1,000 cP to about 5,000 cP; a propylene polymer; and wherein the adhesive composition is substantially free of a functionalized polyolefin, wherein the functionalized polyolefin is selected from at least one of a maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene and a maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene wax.

Adhesive compositions made from propylene-based polymers and crystalline C2/C3 homopolymer

The invention relates to an heat-activated fabric comprising a polymer blend of 70 to 100 wt % of a polymer blend component and 0 to 30 wt % of a propylene polymer, wherein the polymer blend component comprises a first propylene-based polymer, wherein the first propylene-based polymer is a homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer of propylene and ethylene or a Cto Calpha-olefin and a second propylene-based polymer, wherein the second propylene-based polymer is a homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer of propylene and ethylene or a Cto Calpha-olefin, wherein the second propylene-based polymer is different than the first propylene-based polymer and wherein the polymer blend component has a MFR of greater than or equal to 20 g/10 min to less than 10,000 g/10 min; and wherein the propylene polymer has a MFR of greater than or equal to 20 g/10 min to less than 5,000 g/10 min.

Heat-activated fabrics made from blends containing propylene-based polymers

The invention relates to a fiber comprising a blend of 10-50 wt % of a polymer blend modifier and 50-90 wt % of a propylene-based elastomer; 5-50 wt % of a propylene-modifier and 50-95 wt % of a propylene-based elastomer; and 5-35 wt % of a polymer blend modifier and 65-95 wt % of a propylene-modifier. The polymer blend modifier has a first propylene-based polymer and a different second propylene-based polymer that is a propylene homopolymer or a copolymer of propylene and ethylene and a Cto Calpha-olefin. The propylene-modifier is a propylene homopolymer or a copolymer of propylene with 0.5-4 wt % ethylene or Cto Calpha-olefins. The propylene-based elastomer is propylene and 5-25 wt % of one or more Cto C-Calpha-olefins and has a triad tacticity greater than 90% and a heat of fusion less than 75 J/g.

Polymer compositions and nonwoven materials prepared therefrom

Thermoplastic polyolefins (TPOs) and/or thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) are blended with low molecular weight propylene-dominated copolymers to provide polymeric compositions with an improved balance between processability and toughness. The compositions have improved processability by facilitating the ease with which a TPO or TPV, usually difficult to melt process, can be processed at high line speeds, which in turn improves the formation of the composition into articles.

A multi-modal polymer blend for use in an adhesive composition comprising at least two compositionally different propylene-based polymers. The multi-modal polymer blend has a Mw of about 10,000 g/mol to about 150,000 g/mol. When subjected to Temperature Rising Elution Fractionation, the multi-modal polymer blend exhibits a first fraction that is soluble at &#x2212;15&#xb0; C. in a hydrocarbon solvent, such as xylene or ortho-dichlorobenzene, the first fraction having an isotactic (mm) triad tacticity of about 70 mol % to about 90 mol %; and a second fraction that is insoluble or less soluble than the first fraction at &#x2212;15&#xb0; C. in the hydrocarbon solvent, the second fraction having an isotactic (mm) triad tacticity of about 85 mol % to about 98 mol %.

Polyolefin adhesive compositions

Compositions are disclosed comprising (i) a high molecular weight base polymer, and (ii) a relatively low molecular weight ester copolymer comprising an olefin and a copolymerizable ester, wherein the ester copolymer has a pour point less than 40&#xb0; C. In certain embodiments, the high molecular weight base polymer and the relatively low molecular weight ester copolymer are both selected from ethylene-based copolymers such as ethylene-vinyl acetate and ethylene-n-butyl acrylate.

Adhesive compositions and methods

The present invention is related to adhesive compositions comprising a polymer blend of at least two different propylene-based polymers and one or more tackifiers. The polymer blend has a melt viscosity of about 900 cP to about 19,000 cP. When subjected to Temperature Rising Elution Fractionation, the polymer blend exhibits a first fraction that is soluble at &#x2212;15&#xb0; C. in xylene, the first fraction having an isotactic (mm) triad tacticity of about 70 mol % to about 90 mol %; and a second fraction that is insoluble or less soluble than the first fraction at &#x2212;15&#xb0; C. in xylene, the second fraction having an isotactic (mm) triad tacticity of about 85 mol % to about 98 mol %. The tackifier has a softening point, as determined by ASTM E-28, of about 85 to about 135&#xb0; C. and an aromaticity of about 2 to about 12 mol % aromatic protons.

Plasticized polyolefin compositions

Styrenic block copolymers are blended with propylene copolymers to provide polymeric compositions with an improved balance between processability and elasticity. Provided are heterogeneous blend compositions comprising; a) from 1% to 99% by weight of the blend of a first polymer component comprising a copolymer of 5% to 35% by weight of the first polymer component consisting predominantly of alpha olefin derived units and 65% to 95% by weight of the first polymer component of propylene derived units having a crystallinity of 0.1% to about 25% from isotactic polypropylene sequences, a melting point of from 45&#xb0; C. to 105&#xb0; C., and wherein the Melt Flow Rate (MFR@230 C) of the first polymer component is between 300 g/10 min to 5000 g/10 min b) from 1% to 99% by weight of the blend of a second polymer component comprising isotactic polypropylene and random copolymers of isotactic propylene, wherein the percentage of the copolymerized alpha-olefin in the copolymer is between 0.0% and 9% by weight of the second polymer component and wherein the second polymer component has a melting point greater than about 110&#xb0; C., wherein the first polymer component has less than 1000 ppm of reaction products arising from the chemical reaction of a molecular degradation agent. The provided compositions are useful in high temperature applications.
