A reforming process using a medium pore zeolite under conditions to facilitate the conversion of Cparaffinic compounds to para-xylene is provided. Para-xylene is produced at greater than thermodynamic equilibrium concentrations using the process.

The present invention relates to a multistage reforming process to produce a high octane product. A naphtha boiling range feedstock is processed in a multi-stage reforming process, in which the process involves at least 1) a penultimate stage for reforming the naphtha feedstock to produce a penultimate effluent 2) a final stage for further reforming at least a portion of the penultimate effluent 3) a regeneration step for the final stage catalyst. The severity of the penultimate stage can be increased during final stage catalyst regeneration in order to maintain the target RON of the reformate product and avoid reactor downtime.

The invention provides for a process for dewaxing a waxy hydrocarbon feedstock to form a lubricant oil. The invention is also directed to a catalyst system comprising a hydrotreating catalyst upstream of a dewaxing catalyst, used in the dewaxing of a waxy hydrocarbon feedstock to form a lubricant oil. In particular, the invention is directed to a process and catalyst system designed to maintain yield of lubricant oil product. Specifically, the yield of lubricant oil does not decrease more than 2%, at a target pour point, over a dewaxing temperature range. The hydrotreating catalyst helps prevent aging of the dewaxing catalyst and maintains lubricant oil product yield at a target pour point over a wide temperature range. The hydrotreating catalyst comprises platinum, palladium, or combinations thereof on a low acidity inorganic oxide support where acidity is measured by a decalin conversion of less than 10% at 700&#xb0; F.

Process and catalyst system for improving dewaxing catalyst stability and lubricant oil yield

Blended lubricant base oils and blended finished lubricants comprising &#x2267;70 weight percent Fischer-Tropsch derived lubricant base oils comprising &#x2267;6 weight % molecules with monocycloparaffinic functionality and less than 0.05 weight % molecules with aromatic functionality; at least one polyalphaolefin lubricant base oil with a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. greater than about 30 cSt and less than 150 cSt are provided. This invention is directed to a method of operating a wormgear drive at high energy efficiency comprising filling an oil reservoir with a wormgear lubricant comprising an isomerized Fischer-Tropsch derived distillate fraction having a low traction coefficient and operating the wormgear drive with the filled oil reservoir at an equilibrium temperature between 20 and 225 degrees C. This invention is also directed to a process for reducing the traction coefficient of a higher-traction coefficient lubricating base oil by blending it with an isomerized Fischer-Tropsch derived distillate fraction.
