A method of fabricating a spline drive including the steps of providing an elongated rod of indeterminate length having axially extending splines thereon, cutting a cylindrical member of predetermined length from the elongated rod, turning the cylindrical member at its end to provide splines of reduced height and shoulders at the junctions of the reduced splines and the original splines, broaching a washer to provide an internal surface of complementary mating relationship to the turned end of the cylindrical member, mounting the washer on the turned end with the side of the washer abutting the shoulders, laser-welding the washer to the cylindrical member, and brazing a drum to the washer.

Method of fabricating a spline drive

A spinning and twisting ring and holder combination including a spinning and twisting ring having an inner ring surface, an outer ring surface, and a central ring portion therebetween, an annular lubricant conduit in the central ring portion, an annular groove in the outer ring surface, a holder having an inner holder surface and an outer holder surface and a holder block extending outwardly from the outer holder surface, the inner holder surface being mounted in fluid-tight relationship with the outer ring surface to cause the annular groove to be fluid-tight, a plurality of radial bores extending between the annular groove and the inner ring surface and in communication with the annular conduit, a well in the holder block, a first wick extending through conduits in the holder block and the well and having a portion located in the outer ring groove, and second wicks having portions located in engagement with the first wick in the annular groove and having second portions extending through the radial bores and the annular conduit in the spinning and twisting ring.

Wick lubricated spinning and twisting ring construction

A spinning and twisting ring system including a plurality of holders, a ring in each of the holders, an annular conduit in each ring, a wick adapter block connected to each holder, a plurality of aligned bores in the ring, holder, and adapter block for containing a wick, a lubricant manifold, a plurality of spaced bores in the manifold, a lubricant conduit extending externally from each block and received in each of the bores in the manifold with the wick extending downwardly through the lubricant conduit and into lubricant in the manifold, with the lower end of each wick-receiving conduit being located in the lower portion of the manifold to assure contact between the wick and the lubricant.

Spinning and twisting ring construction and system

A spinning and twisting ring including a continuous wick confined within an annular conduit in the ring and extending through a bore in the holder and thence through an anchoring fitting between the holder and a lubricant block and terminating in a well in the block to conduct lubricant to predetermined openings in the ring.

A spinning and twisting ring construction comprising a rail, a holder secured to said rail and mounting a spinning ring, a lubricant block including a lubricant feeder therein secured directly to said holder in lubricant conducting relationship, and a conduit in said holder for conducting lubricant from said lubricant block to said spinning ring.
