A composite tack-free film having a film substrate with opposing surfaces, bearing on at least one of said surfaces a highly crosslinked, film-forming acrylate composition containing from about 25 to about 78 of at least one lower alkyl (meth)acrylate ester and from about 10 to about 60 percent vinyl acetate and at least about 1 percent of a polar monomer, wherein the acrylate composition is capable of attaching temporarily to polyimide film surface to provide a substantially air-tight seal and being cleanly removable from said polyimide film surface leaving no visible residue, even after being subjected to elevated temperatures.

The present invention relates to an article comprising a substrate which has coated thereon a photopolymerizable epoxy composition containing a plurality of epoxides including at least one selected from the group consisting of bisphenol A epoxides and cycloaliphatic epoxides, and at least one aliphatic epoxide, from about 0.1% to about 2% of at least one organometallic cationic initiator capable of initiating polymerization at wavelengths of from about 200 to about 600 nm, and optionally at least one accelerating agent. The article can be a flexible tape backing or a chip-resistant paint.

Substrate coated or impregnated with flexible epoxy composition

The invention provides normally tacky and pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions comprising a polymer having an inherent viscosity greater than 0.2 and having in its backbone at least a major portion by weight of polymerized monomeric acrylic or methacrylic acid ester of a non-tertiary alcohol and, having attached to the backbone, polymeric moieties having a weight average molecular weight of above about 2,000 and a T.sub.g of above about 20.degree. C. The number and composition of the attached moieties in the polymer is such as to provide the adhesive composition with a shear holding value of at least 50 minutes. Sheet materials coated with the adhesive composition are also provided. Preferred adhesive composition comprises a copolymer monomeric acrylic or methacrylic acid ester of non-tertiary alcohol and macromolecular monomer. The copolymer may also include up to 12% by weight of a copolymerizable polar monomer such as acrylic acid.

Acrylate copolymer pressure-sensitive adhesive coated sheet material

A pressure-sensitive adhesive is provided which is a copolymer of an acrylate monomer which contributes to the visco-elastic properties of the copolymer and a copolymerizable mono-ethylenically unsaturated aromatic ketone comonomer free of ortho-aromatic hydroxyl groups by means of which the copolymer can be crosslinked upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation such that the amount of crosslinking comonomer and the degree of polymerization of the copolymer are controlled to obtain a creep compliance value of at least about 1.2.times.10.sup.-5 cm.sup.2 /dyne, the adhesive exhibits an enhanced level of initial adhesion when applied to skin but resists objectionable adhesion build-up over time. A preferred crosslinking ethylenically unsaturated hydroxyl-free aromatic ketone comonomer is p-acryloxybenzophenone.
