A system and method for automatically alerting participants to or listeners of a communication when a predefined section of the communication is reached are disclosed. In accordance with an exemplary method, prior to a communication, a document corresponding to the communication is marked at predefined locations. During a communication, the document is reviewed for marks, and when a mark is detected, an alert or notification is sent to one or more participants. The participants may then join the communication a point corresponding to the pre-defined section(s).

Notification system and method for sending alerts to communication participants

A method and apparatus for determining settings of wires in an electrical system are provided. The method includes setting a first wire setting of a wire from among a plurality of wires to a pin setting of a pin attached to the wire if the pin has a pin setting; setting the first wire setting to a first connector setting of a first connector attached to the pin if the pin does not have a pin setting and the connector setting includes a default setting; and setting the first wire setting to at least one from among: a second pin setting of a second pin attached to the wire from among the plurality of pins; and a second connector setting of a second connector attached to the second pin if the pin does not have a pin setting and the first connector setting does not have a default setting.

A system, method, and desktop mobile information provider for unifying mobile devices with provisioned endpoints. In one illustrative embodiment, a user's mobile device can receive a mobile event. The mobile device can then transmit the mobile event to either a private branch exchange directly or through a unified communications server. The mobile event can then be displayed to the user's private branch exchange provisioned endpoint, and in one embodiment, the provisioned endpoint being a private branch exchange desk phone. The mobile event can be displayed to the provisioned endpoint using text, light emitting diodes for message waiting indicators, audible tones, or graphics if the desk phone supports it. The provisioned endpoint can provide a response mechanism when a mobile event is received. Often, the mobile event can be a live call whereby the user at their provisioned endpoint can respond to the call without the use of the mobile device.

A conferencing system and method that allows participants to review recorded conference information and to join the conference live are disclosed. Exemplary systems and methods continuously record or buffer at least a portion of a conference, such that participants joining late or that otherwise miss a portion of the conference can review a recording of the portion of the conference and catch up to the live portion of the conference.

A system and method for transferring information over a short range are disclosed. An exemplary system continuously records a media session, allowing one or more users to select segments of the session to store and have transcribed. A power manager for mobile applications using location based services. Generally described, the system and method manages power of a wireless device by adjusting the sampling rate of mobile applications that use location based services. In one illustrative embodiment, the power can be managed by establishing a schedule. The schedule can include settings such as a start time, end time, interval, and duration. These settings can be used to establish a window of time whereby multiple location samplings can take place. The schedule can minimize the user's involvement on a continual basis by allowing manual and automatic scheduling. The power manager can include, but is not limited to, three features to provide better power management for the wireless device. These can include scheduling for location sampling, automatic and learned scheduling, and frequency and duration dynamic modification. Through the power manager, the power supply on the wireless device can be maximized.

Power management system and method for mobile applications using location based services

A system and method for creation and management of user location policies and data. Generally described, the system provides for automated tools and personal tools that can alleviate the onerous and expensive task of updating location data and location based policies. The automated tools can use existing information within company databases to create and manage standard user locations. The personal tools can allow the user to personally create manage their own locations through a graphical user interface. The automated and personal tools can utilize global positioning system information to track the current location of the user. The information can be used to determine physical locations to a certain degree.

System and method for creation and management of location information

The system provides approximations of a person's location to interested parties wherein the approximations are based upon a detection device's location and inherent inaccuracies related to that detection device. The system can evaluate location information from multiple detectors and approximate the location using and combining that information. The system can provide a confidence level for that determination. The system can also degrade confidence levels assigned to the location as a function of time. Each location can include a hierarchy of subtypes with each subtype including a precision level, the precision level associated with an accuracy level of a detector involved for placing a person within that particular location. When a detector receives location information, the system described herein can traverse through the locations and their associated precision levels to approximate the correct type of location within the hierarchy using the accuracy level of the detector.

System and method for location detection and management of uncertain information thereof

An architecture for resource management in a telecommunications network includes two or more nodes connected over a logically direct path in a peer-to-peer manner. At each node, local events typically trigger the node to transmit a broadcast to every other node. Broadcast information comprises a status of the local node's resources. Remote nodes receive the local node's broadcast and independently transmit their own broadcasts with similar information. Each node stores the received broadcast information in a local storage for future retrieval. When a session is desired with a remote node, the local node simply retrieves the remote node's resource status information from its local storage and determines if a session can occur. In this manner, every node of the network is aware of the nodal addresses of the other nodes, remote node's resource status, and can quickly retrieve, from its own local storage, the availability of the remote node's resources.
