A light fixture for directing light emitted from a light source toward an area to be illuminated, including a reflector assembly within which the light source is positioned and a lens assembly detachably secured to a portion of the reflector assembly such that a lens of the lens assembly overlies the light source and such that substantially all of the light emitted from the light source passes through the lens assembly.

Housings for emergency unit luminaires with a front portion that includes a printed circuit board and other operational components and a back portion that includes electrical contacts configured to connect to a source of external power. When the front and back portions are engaged, contact pads projecting from the printed circuit board are guided into engagement with the electrical contacts of the back portion for connection to the external power source. The front portion is disengaged from the back portion, and thus disconnected from power, when needed, for example, for maintenance of the unit.

An emergency lighting device adapted to be quickly and easily mounted and installed. In one embodiment, a mounting member of the device is first mounted to a desired structure and connected to an external power supply. Once mounted and completed, and emergency lighting assembly is secured to the mounting member. In certain embodiments, securing the emergency lighting assembly to the mounting member connects the device to the external power supply and energizes the device.

Housings for emergency unit luminaires may be configured to receive both fixed and movable optical assemblies for mounting, allowing for the manufacture of a single housing for production of differing lighting products or lamp assemblies. Additionally, structural elements of a housing may support printed circuit boards, electronics, test devices, and the like, as well as permit electrical connections to be accomplished during assembly of front and back portions of the housing without the need for fasteners requiring tools.

A housing frame preferably formable as a single integral unit being capable of use as a primary structural portion of a housing suitable for multiple exit sign configurations, the several exit sign configurations of the invention being either intended for emergency or non-emergency operation and further being intended for use with different light sources and power sources. The frame and associated plates forming the housing of the invention are preferably formed from polymeric material of a thickness less than that of prior 'plastic' housings, the strength and rigidity necessary to proper operation of the housing being provided by a functionally interrelated combination of structural elements which allows a substantial reduction in material used for formation of the housing.

A mounting plate capable of mounting emergency unit fixtures or similar fixtures in an industrial environment, the mounting plate of the invention being securely attachable to a variety of support structures including horizontal and vertical wall surfaces, posts of differing cross-sectional shapes and dimensions and Unistrut components. The mounting plate is formed generally as a flat body having integral portions formed out of plane to provide particular mounting functions. The unit fixtures per se mount directly to the mounting plate through engagement of openings formed on rear walls of the unit fixtures with free legs of bayonet mounts extending from a face of the mounting plate, the plate being snap-locked in certain embodiments to the fixtures, a locking mechanism being actuated on full engagement of the bayonet mounts to positively hold the unit fixtures to the mounting plate. The mounting plate can be attached to wall surfaces by means of screws after use of nailing stakes utilized for temporary holding the mounting plate to a wall. Banding or strapping elements can be used with the mounting plate to attach the mounting plate/unit fixture combination to poles of varying shape and thickness, thereby particularly allowing mounting to round and square columns and the like.

A housing frame preferably formable as a single integral unit and being capable of use as a primary structural portion of a housing suitable for multiple exit sign configurations, the several exit sign configurations of the invention being either intended for emergency or non-emergency operation and further being intended for use with different light sources and power sources. The housing frame of the invention includes structural features which allow mounting of any one of a variety of light sources and mounting of those components necessary for operation of the light sources within a single housing, which housing is of a size reduced in volume relative to most presently available signs. Structural features of the frame also include in at least certain embodiments a printed circuit board comprising a platform and having essentially all circuit components including light emitting diode light sources and a battery for operation of the light sources in an emergency mode mounted on said printed circuit board. The printed circuit board or platform is mounted immediately above a floor of the housing frame by a support structure comprising an irregular vertical wall extending upwardly from the floor of the housing frame. The frame and associated plates forming the housing of the invention are preferably formed from polymeric material of a thickness less than that of prior 'plastic' housings, the strength and rigidity necessary to proper operation of the housing being provided by a functionally interrelated combination of structural elements which allows a substantial reduction in material used for formation of the housing.
