A method for remote identification of security threats in an imaged object including transmitting an initialization signal to a first threat detection scanner over a communication network, the first threat detection scanner being located at a separate physical location, receiving a ready-to-send signal from the first threat detection scanner, the ready-to-send signal including a storage location of a scan image generated by the first threat detection scanner for security inspection, receiving the scan image from the first threat detection scanner, transmitting, after receiving the scan image from the first threat detection scanner, a second initialization signal to a second threat detection scanner at the separate physical location, generating a threat detection report based on a rendering of the scan image, and transmitting the threat detection report to the first threat detection scanner.

Secure networking techniques for acquisition and transmission of images

Scanning systems and related methods are provided. The scanning systems and methods may be computed tomography (CT) based scanning systems and methods. According to some aspects, the scanning systems have a reduced size compared to conventional scanning systems and may have similar throughput to some conventional scanning systems. According to some aspects, the scanning systems are reconfigurable into at least two scanning arrangements. Reduced size and/or reconfigurable scanning systems can allow an operator to dispose a scanning system in an environment that would not accommodate a conventional scanning system. Accordingly, the scanning systems described herein can provide enhanced security in some environments.

Scanning systems and related methods

A scanning system includes an improved arrangement of shielding curtains to limit radiation leakage while achieving high throughput and limiting system length. The scanning system includes a segmented conveyor, including a faster conveyor through a shielding region to improve increase throughput of scanned articles, and a slower conveyor through a scanning region to ensure acceptable scanning performance. The curtains are arranged based on the changing gap distance between the articles that results from the changing conveyor speeds.
