A system and method of producing polyethylene, including: polymerizing ethylene in presence of a catalyst system in a reactor to form polyethylene, wherein the catalyst system includes a first catalyst and a second catalyst; and adjusting reactor conditions and an amount of the second catalyst fed to the reactor to control melt index (MI), density, and melt flow ratio (MFR) of the polyethylene.

Method of producing polyethylene and polyethylene thereof

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed towards catalyst formulations including a metallocene and a stearic compound selected from bis 2-hydroxyethyl stearyl amine, aluminum distearate, and combinations thereof, where the metallocene is represented by the following formula: (Formula (I)) wherein each n-PR is n-propyl, and each X is independently CH, Cl, or F. 

Catalyst formulations

A bimodal polyethylene is provided. The bimodal polyethylene may include a high molecular weight portion having a weight average molecular weight (M) of 100,000 g/mol to 1,000,000 g/mol and a low molecular weight portion having a Mof 10,000 g/mol to 80,000 g/mol. Polymer extrudates, such as cable-coatings and/or wire-coatings and films, including the bimodal polyethylene as well as methods of making the polymer extrudates are also provided.

Polyethylene extrudates and methods of making the same

Methods for reducing gels and/or dome sheeting in gas phase polymerization processes and their resulting products are provided. The polymerization processes include polymerizing ethylene and one or more optional comonomers in a fluidized bed reactor in the presence of a metallocene catalyst, hydrogen, and at least one condensing agent.

Methods for making polyethylene polymers

The use of induced condensing agent (ICA) in fluidized bed gas phase reactor systems enables higher production rates but can affect the resulting polyolefins melt index. The effect the increased ICA concentration may have on a melt index may be counteracted, if necessary, by altering the concentration of olefin monomer within the reactor system.

Methods of controlling polyolefin melt index

The catalyst productivity of a polyolefin catalyst in the methods disclosed herein may be increased by increasing the concentration of an induced condensing agent (ICA) in the reactor system. The effect the increased ICA concentration may have on a melt index may be counteracted, if necessary, in various ways.

Methods of controlling polyolefin melt index while increasing catalyst productivity

The number of small gels that form in polyolefin thin films may be reduced by altering certain production parameters of the polyolefin. In some instances, the number of small gels may be influenced by the melt index of the polyolefin. However, in many instances, melt index is a critical part of the polyolefin product specification and, therefore, is not manipulated. Two parameters that may be manipulated to mitigate small gel count while maintaining the melt index are polyolefin residence time in the reactor and ICA concentration in the reactor.

Methods of changing polyolefin production conditions to mitigate small gels in a polyolefin article

Polymers, and systems and methods for making and using the same are described herein. A polymer includes ethylene and at least one alpha olefin having from 4 to 20 carbon atoms. The polymer has a melt index ratio (MIR) greater than about 40. The polymer also has a value for Mw1/Mw2 of at least about 2.0, wherein Mw1/Mw2 is a ratio of a weight average molecular weight (Mw) for a first half of a temperature rising elution (TREF) curve from a cross-fractionation (CFC) analysis to an Mw for a second half of the TREF curve. The polymer also has a value for Tw1&#x2212;Tw2 of less than about &#x2212;15&#xb0; C., wherein Tw1&#x2212;Tw2 is a difference of a weight average elution temperature (Tw) for the first half of the TREF curve to a Tw for the second half of the TREF curve.

Producing polyolefin products with improved stiffness, toughness, and processability

A polymerization process includes contacting the following in a gas-phase reactor system under polymerization conditions for making a polymer product: a metallocene-based catalyst system including a supported constrained geometry catalyst, at least one monomer, and an additive selected from a group consisting of an aluminum distearate, an ethoxylated amine, and a mixture thereof. The additive may be selected from a group consisting of an aluminum distearate, an ethoxylated amine, polyethylenimines, and other additives suitable for use in the production of polymers for food contact applications and end products, including a mixture of a polysulfone copolymer, a polymeric polyamine, and oil-soluble sulfonic acid, in a carrier fluid, and mixtures thereof.

Polymerization process using a supported constrained geometry catalyst

The invention generally provides for methods for controlling polymer properties. In particular, invention provides for methods for controlling the comonomer composition distribution of polyolefins such as ethylene alpha-olefin copolymers by altering at least one or more of the following parameters: the molar ratio of hydrogen to ethylene, the molar ratio of comonomer to ethylene, the partial pressure of ethylene, and the reactor temperature without substantially changing the density and/or the melt index of the copolymer.

Methods of controlling polymer properties

A process for the production of an ethylene alpha-olefin copolymer is disclosed, the process including polymerizing ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin by contacting the ethylene and the at least one alpha-olefin with a metallocene catalyst in at least one gas phase reactor at a reactor pressure of from 0.7 to 70 bar and a reactor temperature of from 20&#xb0; C. to 150&#xb0; C. to form an ethylene alpha-olefin copolymer. The resulting ethylene alpha-olefin copolymer may have a density D of 0.927 g/cc or less, a melt index (I) of from 0.1 to 100 dg/min, a MWD of from 1.5 to 5.0. The resulting ethylene alpha-olefin copolymer may also have a peak melting temperature Tsatisfying the following relation: T&#x3e;D*398&#x2212;245.

Polymerization processes using metallocene catalysts, their polymer products and end uses

Metallocene catalyzed polyethylenes are found to have improved physical properties, improved processability and improved balance of properties. Surprisingly, there is a direct relationship between MD shrinkage, and MD tear. Additionally, MD tear is greater than TD tear, and MD tear is also greater than intrinsic tear. MD tear to TD tear ratios are above 0.9, and dart drop impact is above 500 g/mil. The polyethylenes have a relatively broad composition distribution and relatively broad molecular weight distribution.

Polyethylene films with improved physical properties

A process for the production of an ethylene alpha-olefin copolymer is disclosed. The process includes polymerizing ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin by contacting the ethylene and the at least one alpha-olefin with a metallocene catalyst in at least one gas phase reactor at a reactor pressure of from 0.7 to 70 bar and a reactor temperature of from 20&#xb0; C. to 150&#xb0; C. to form an ethylene alpha-olefin copolymer. The resulting ethylene alpha-olefin copolymer may have a density of 0.927 g/cc or greater and environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR) of 500 hr or more when measured according to ASTM 1693/B in 10% Igepal.
