A respiratory apparatus includes components to protect operations of the apparatus. For example, in some versions, the apparatus may include a power supply, a motor powered by the power supply, and a transient absorption diode circuit between the motor and the power supply. The transient absorption diode circuit may be configured to absorb energy generated by the motor from rotational kinetic energy. Such absorption may serve to protect the components of the apparatus. In some examples, the apparatus may include a fault mitigation integrated circuit (IC). The IC circuit may be included in the respiratory apparatus to detect one or more faults based on physical and system parameters of the apparatus. The fault mitigation integrated circuit may generate a signal to stop the motor based on the detected fault, and may digitally communicate with a processor information about the detected fault.

Motor drive system for respiratory apparatus

A blower includes a housing including an inlet and an outlet, a motor to drive a rotatable shaft, first and second impellers provided to the shaft, the first and second impellers each including a plurality of impeller blades, a first stationary component provided to the housing and including stator vanes downstream of the first impeller, and a second stationary component provided to the housing and including stator vanes downstream of the second impeller. A first set of stator vanes of the first stationary component is provided around the motor and are configured and arranged to direct airflow along the motor, to de-swirl the airflow and to decelerate air to increase pressure. A blower including a third impeller and third stationary component positioned above the first impeller is also described.

A heat and moisture exchanger (HME) for engaging a patient's nose while retrofit into a plenum chamber of a patient interface. The HME includes a frame configured to couple to a ridge of the patient's nose, and a cradle coupled to the frame. The cradle is configured to be positioned proximate to the patient's nares. The HME also includes an HME material coupled to the cradle. The HME material is configured to retain moisture exhaled by the patient. Air is configured to pass through the HME material when entering and exiting the patient's nares. The HME engages and is secured to the patient's nose independently of any other structure.

Standalone patient heat and moisture exchanger

A first part of a fluid connector system for delivery of pressurized breathing gas to a patient from a respiratory pressure therapy device. The first part has a connector portion with a first opening for a fluid flow, a sealing surface around a periphery of the first opening, and a retaining portion axially aligned with the sealing surface. The sealing surface is configured to axially receive a seal portion extending around a periphery of a second opening to form a face seal with a second part of the fluid connector system. The retaining portion is configured to be releasably engaged with a retaining portion of the second part of the fluid connector system.

One form of the present technology includes a fluid connector for delivery of breathing gas to a patient from a respiratory pressure therapy device, the fluid connector including a first end with a first opening to deliver a fluid flow, a seal portion extending around a periphery of the first opening, and a latching portion, a second end with a second opening to receive the fluid flow, a sealing surface extending around a periphery of the second opening and configured to engage the seal portion to form a face seal, and a complementary latching portion configured to engage with the latching portion.
