A stator for use in internal combustion engine, the stator comprises a central core having a top surface, a bottom surface, and a plurality of openings extending therethrough. The central core includes a plurality of poles extending outwardly from the periphery of the core. The periphery of the core and the poles are electrically insulated from the central core by an insulating material. Wire is wound on the poles to produce wire coils around each of the poles. The wire coils are electrically connected to lead wires from ignition and/or charging system circuitry or components. Wires from the wire coils and the lead wires are inserted into at least one of the openings in the central core where they are terminated and secured with lead wires from ignition and/or charging system circuitry or components. The wires from the wire coils and the lead wires can also be connected prior to their insertion into the openings wherein the connected wires are secured. The lead wires come out from the openings and are routed between poles of the stator. Epoxy is inserted into the openings and between the poles to secure the connected wires in place.

Apparatus and method of terminating and securing lead wires to a stator

The present invention provides a complete ignition and charging system in one assembly for an internal combustion engine that includes a multiple pole radial air gap stator and flywheel assembly with ignition and regulator circuitry mounted to the stator and the flywheel having a plurality of openings extending therethrough.

Radial stator and flywheel assembly

The present invention provides a single piece machined rotor comprising a shell having an upper lip and a lower lip, with a pocket formed between the upper lip and the lower lip for mounting magnets therein. The magnets are fixed in place within the inner sidewall of the rotor with an adhesive and spacers. The spacers are positioned between the magnets and are held in place on the shell of the rotor by fasteners. The spacers may be of any type of non-magnetic material that can absorb the heat of the engine. The rotor also preferably includes triggering protrusions and balancing cutouts machined into the shell of the rotor. The cutouts or grooves may be machined into the inner sidewall or the outer sidewall of the rotor. A plurality of timing teeth used for engine speed sensing maybe machined into the single piece rotor assembly. The present invention also contemplates a method of machining the entire rotor out of a single piece of material.

Machined rotor assembly and method of making same

A dry-cleaning apparatus using liquid carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) as the cleaning fluid has a liquid level detector for providing a continuous reading of the liquid CO.sub.2 level in a storage tank. The liquid level detector includes a first resistance temperature detector disposed in the gas above the liquid, a second resistance temperature detector immersed in the liquid, and a third resistance temperature detector with an elongated sensing section disposed in part in the gas above the liquid and in part in the liquid. Each of the three resistance temperature detectors are heated by a constant current. Voltage signals indicating the respective resistance values of the resistance temperature detectors are measured and processed by a controller to continuously determine and monitor the liquid level in the storage tank.

Apparatus and method for detecting a liquid level in a sealed storage

A valve member position sensor for continuously monitoring the position of the valve member of a flow-control valve in a dry-cleaning apparatus using CO.sub.2 as the cleaning fluid. The valve member position sensor includes a potentiometer with its shaft connected to the drive shaft of the valve such the resistance of the potentiometer changes with the valve member position. The resistance value of the potentiometer is detected by passing a constant current through the potentiometer to produce a voltage drop across the potentiometer. The voltage drop is measured by a controller to determine the valve position.

An apparatus and method is disclosed for controlling a load capable of functioning for a predetermined purpose in response to a predetermined amount of electrical power. The load can be operated from either an AC or DC source using a two-wire connection. The predetermined amount of electrical power is applied to the load if a sensor senses a triggering event. During the time period when a triggering event is sensed, power is cycled on and off to the load in order to enable continuous monitoring of the trigger event. During most of the time period, the sensor receives power to maintain its operations from a storage circuit. If the charge in a capacitor decreases to a predetermined value, the predetermined amount of electrical power is removed from the load momentarily to allow replenishment of the capacitor charge.
