A printer guide clip is configured for retrofit in a paper tray of pre-existing commercially available printer for blocking corner curling of forms transported therethrough. The clip includes first and second side tabs integrally joined together by an arcuate cap extending between the top ends thereof. The first tab is configured for retention inside a pre-existing slot in the paper tray. An inclined ramp extends outwardly from the second tab inside the tray in the vicinity of the form corner for blocking curling thereof during use. The clip is readily attachable to the tray for use with laminated forms, and is easily removable therefrom when no longer needed.

A core includes a tubular body for supporting a wound sheet roll on a spindle. The body includes an annular outer surface for receiving the sheet roll, and an annular inner surface defining a bore for receiving the spindle. A plurality of ribs project inwardly from the body inner surface and extend axially between opposite first and second openings for nesting in the corresponding slots in the spindle. Each of the ribs includes a beveled fork for frictionally engaging a corresponding one of the spindle slots to frictionally retain the core axially thereon.

A core includes a tubular body for supporting a wound sheet roll on a spindle. The body includes an annular outer surface for receiving the sheet roll, and an annular inner surface defining a bore for receiving the spindle. A plurality of ribs project inwardly from the body inner surface and extend axially between opposite first and second openings for nesting in the corresponding slots in the spindle. At least one of the ribs includes a bowed side surface in the exemplary form of a fork for frictionally engaging a corresponding one of the spindle slots to frictionally retain the core axially thereon.

A packaging apparatus for packaging thermal transfer ribbons and other material having similar packaging requirements is provided. The packaging apparatus includes a pair of flat pieces having protrusions for locating pairs of thermal transfer ribbons and take-up reels in close proximity. The flat pieces and protrusions include features which prevent rotation, telescoping, edge damage or contamination of the thermal transfer ribbons during shipping processes.

A printer cassette includes a housing containing a ribbon in a channel, and ink in a well. An ink wheel is rotatably mounted to the housing in operable engagement with the ribbon. A wick extends from the well and includes a stem elastically cantilevered from a base thereof at the well to a tip thereof between which is disposed the ink wheel in contact therewith. The wick stem converges to selectively transfer ink to the ink wheel.

A method for consistently inserting pads into ribbons cassettes and a plunger for performing such method are provided. The specially designed plunger insures each pad is subject to the same amount of compression upon insertion into the reinker housing walls of each ribbon cassette. Since each pad is subject to the same amount of compression, each pad consistently absorbs the same quantity of ink without pooling.

A continuous or endless loop printing ribbon cassette generally including a printing ribbon cassette body, a printing ribbon cassette nose clip member, and a continuous or endless loop inked printing ribbon. The printing ribbon cassette body includes a continuous or endless loop inked printing ribbon storage area, an outlet port, and an inlet port. The printing ribbon cassette nose clip member is positioned between the outlet port and the inlet port and locates continuous or endless loop inked printing ribbon in proper orientation relative to the interface between the print head and the printing medium. A nose clip modification insert is provided which, when assembled to the printing ribbon cassette nose clip member, closes a preexisting opening in the printing ribbon cassette nose clip member and extends an outer surface of the printing ribbon cassette nose clip member an additional distance sufficient to protect or prevent continuous or endless loop inked printing ribbon from being wrinkled or caught between the printing medium and the print head upon insertion of the printing medium into the printing equipment. In addition, a modified spring tensioner provides increased tension on continuous or endless loop inked printing ribbon prior to its exit from the outlet port. Furthermore, the printing ribbon cassette base and the printing ribbon cassette cover are rigidly connected to prevent the escape of continuous or endless loop inked printing ribbon from the printing ribbon cassette due to separation of the printing ribbon cassette base from the print ribbon cassette cover.

A ribbon cassette has a first tension spring located at an exit port of a cavity of the cassette and a second tension spring located at one corner of the cassette which provides a correct tautness of the ribbon as it travels past the line of printing. The cassette also has a ribbon shield which is positioned relative to printing elements to maintain the ribbon in a straight plane along the line of printing.

A ribbon cassette for an endless ribbon comprises a first portion and a second portion of substantially identical structure and each portion includes a dam adjacent the exit port of the cassette. A ramp is formed adjacent each dam for centering the ribbon as it travels from the ribbon chamber between the ramps and the dams for providing improved tracking and control of the ribbon through the exit port.
