Disclosed is a method for synthesizing single crystalline molybdenum disulfide via a hydrothermal process that minimizes or eliminates carbon byproducts. The method involves providing two components, including a source of molybdenum and a mineralizer solution, to an inert reaction vessel, heating one zone sufficiently to dissolve the source of molybdenum in the mineralizer solution, and heating a second zone to a lower temperature to allow thermal transport to drive the dissolved material to the second zone, and then precipitate MoSon a seed crystal.

In particular, Applicants disclose single crystalline RbUOsingle crystalline RbUOin the Pm-3m space group. A data store stores data describing disruption ratings of members of the set of authentication modules. A user confidence module maintains a confidence rating that a current user of a device is an authenticated user of the device. The confidence module controls execution of the authentication modules based on the confidence rating and on the disruption ratings of the authentication modules. The user confidence module controls execution of relatively less disruptive authentication modules when the user confidence module is confident that the current user of the device is the authenticated user of the device. The user confidence module maintains the confidence rating based on feedback received from authentication modules.

A method for restricting write access to a non-volatile memory. The method includes receiving a request to write to a protected location in the non-volatile memory and determining whether the protected location is in a write-protected state. If the protected location is not in a write-protected state, the method includes writing data indicated by the request to the protected location. If the protected location is in a write-protected state, the method includes rejecting the request. The protected location stores a validation key to validate the contents of another portion of the non-volatile memory.

In example implementations, a method is provided. The method may be executed by a processor of a security system. The method includes detecting a robot. The robot may then be validated. The response of the security system may be modified in response to the robot that is detected and validated.

The instructions also cause the processor to determine a region containing the data based on the metadata. The instructions cause the processor to traverse a tree in the metadata to determine key generation information relating a decryption key for the region to a root key.

A method of synthesizing zinc selenide crystals. The method includes forming an aqueous growth medium by combining a mineralizer solution of an alkali nutrient with a feedstock including zinc and selenium. A seed crystal is added to the growth medium. The aqueous growth medium and seed crystal are pressurized and a thermal gradient applied such that a temperature of a first portion of the aqueous growth medium is greater than a second portion of the aqueous growth medium. The zinc and selenium are dissolved into the mineralizer solution from the feedstock in the first portion of the aqueous growth medium and spontaneously forms at least one single crystal of zinc selenide on the seed crystal in the first portion of the aqueous growth medium.
